Rule by Decree: Biden Sets Record for Executive Orders in First Week

Do you think he knows what he is signing?..Lol

WASHINGTON, DC - JANUARY 20: U.S. President Joe Biden prepares to sign a series of executive orders at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office just hours after his inauguration on January 20, 2021 in Washington, DC.

Biden has issued more executive orders in his first week in office — not yet complete, as of this writing — than any of his 45 predecessors.

As of January 25, 2021, Biden has “issued 33 executive orders, actions, proclamations, memoranda and agency directives,” according to CNN. Twenty-one of these, according to the White House website, are executive orders.

Most if not all those pages were blank. No witnesses standing behind him. He didn't hold up the document for the camera to see. Reporters were hurriedly pushed out of the room.

Three reasons occur to me why someone might dislike Biden EOs. Not sure which applies here....

        1. Someone's ox is gored--ie a Federal policy change with direct negative effects on an individual

        2. EOs are broadly popular with people on the other side. Their great joy is someone else's great sorrow.

        3. EOs are popular with some people on this side. Siphoning away support is bad.

Biden just signs whatever they put in front of him. It could just as well be a confession to killing Vince Foster and he wouldn't know the difference.

Any Norman Vincent Peale fans here? His idea was: repeat something enough and then it becomes a personal truth. Fun fact, he officiated at Trump's first wedding. Peale + Roy Cohn....explains a lot of it.

Anyways, it's worth pointing out that there is evidence that Biden's mind does operate on target, in the black, whereas I think everyone agrees it's been forever since Trump was even on the paper.

A couple examples of the contrast:

                    1. Covid-19. Biden quote: "we're in a crisis and should act like it". With that simple line he captures the essence of the moment and gives the rationale for major federal action. Being honest, is there anyone over 75 here who isn't secretly rooting for Biden to do a good job on Covid? It's a painful virus for seniors whether it kills them or not. And with the new mutations, the only way any of us will not be exposed to the virus or the vaccine in the end is by dying first of something else. It's gonna touch us all at some point.

                    2. The first Biden/Putin call. Exactly what we would want to see. Nuke treaty--both sides want to avoid another race on strategic nukes so lets get it done. Navalny--watch what you do Putin, we have a playbook for dissidents from the Soviet era. Troop bounties, hacking, election interference--that stuff won't be tolerated anymore, Vlad.

Last comment: the question was asked...."what's Biden been doing for 47 years?" Answer perhaps being...figuring out how the damn thing works and what he would do if he got in charge. Yeah stuff to NOT like in that, but also stuff to like. But really if any President was being distracted by parking him in front of a TV for hours on end, or bringing big trucks to the White House for picture day, we know who that was don't we.

                      wow,,,

                      just wow,

1> you have folks on your own side (be honest,) that have questioned Biden's campaign promise of fixing it now,, and now not having a plan, (lots o tweets, etc , pointing out the hypocrisy)

2> sounds like the same call every president has had since Gorbechev or Yeltsin,, as in staged

last, if it takes 47 years to figure that out,, then you are not the brightest bulb in the box, or the sharpest crayon, or the sharpest knife in the drawer,

but whatever it takes for you to justify your vote

Staged, exactly how high level stuff gets successfully done outside of Trumpworld, which is to say everywhere else on Planet Earth.

Let the staff game out the language, the scenarios, then let the big guy have the call. No different in corporate negotiations. Have a staff, let it do useful preparatory staff work. What a concept!!!!

Covid....I stand by the claim that oldsters are secretly rooting for Biden while they hunker down, ride this thing out.

The other benefit of Biden is that his opponents will settle into a groove too. Trump being so erratic by the end even the cheerleaders were all exhausted. Biden gives friend and foe a chance to regain their bearings.

Speaking of Covid, we are reporting 4-5-6,000 new cases a day in my state. I don't see how it possible that we won't all eventually get it.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

Within 6 months everyone will be exposed. Only question is, did they get a vaccine dose first or not? Sometimes things are simple, and this is one of those times.

Years ago The New York Timesnoted that Clinton issued more executive orders than all his predecessors combined, and the goal of Liberals and Leftists has long been authoritarian government. Think Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Fidel, and in this country, the first Mayor Daley of Chicago.
