I don't know that Maxine ever organized anything on the scale of January 6. Maybe she tried, and there were no takers? But as for the other guy, all of the elements are there....advance planning, staging, oratory, then execution. No account of those hours has him expressing shock & horror and moving with alacrity to re-establish order.Comment

you really need to get past Trump, and open your eyes,
you comments alone suggest that you are not open minded, nor willing to see, what has happened and what is going on in today's world,
the left has done far worse to the Capitol in the past, , and has been provoking folks to confront anyone not on the left for years now,
but you seem to miss that, or approve of it,
not sure whichComment

I really don't care what the congress women from Georgia says or thinks. She doesn't represent me. She represents the people who elected her. Just like the AOC women, Omar, the rest of the squad, Walters etc., etc they represent the views and believes of the people in their districts who sent them to Washington. Trying to belittle these representatives is actually attacking the people who voted for them as their voice in congress. Now I find it disturbing that people think that way and believe its a real problem but thats just because I don't think that way.To Error Is Human To Forgive Is Not SAC PolicyComment

Not seeing why it is remotely necessary to turn a blind eye towards what happened INSIDE the capitol on January 6, and in the run-up before, instead putting stock in the hidden hand of unseen conspiracies as the best explanation for "what has happened and what is going on in today's world" (your phrasing). We have a tremendous amount of documentation of the events of that day, much of it provided by the actors themselves, plus the many witnesses.
Eggheads say that the conspiracy-worldview is a mindset, that some people have it, and some don't. I don't. And I don't think it is traditionally what one would call Conservative, either. I associate with Conservatism an ability to call events like they see them, a determination to get to the bottom of things, not deliberately leaving things fuzzy perhaps out of a fear of the truth.
So to the one point you raise that might actually be testable, that "the left has done far worse to the Capitol in the past", if true then that should be an easy citation to locate.Comment

That makes sense, insofar as we're neither in Congress or from Georgia. However the lady did endorse the idea of violence against elected officials in past social media posts, and hasn't exactly broken a sweat trying to walk that stuff back. It's like in a school, someone has to be able to keep the kids in line, and if her own leadership isn't up to the job, then it falls to the next level up. I doubt they're happy about it. Supposedly politics is about getting along with people to get stuff done. If MTG had any political sense she would have known that Pelosi was in a mood for hangings (metaphorically speaking) after January 6, and job #1 would have been damage control. Maybe MTG thinks she is playing the long game to a media career? Time will tell.I really don't care what the congress women from Georgia says or thinks. She doesn't represent me. Many on the Right will continue to feel that they have burned and what has happened is just a further continuance. Maxine will continue to chair and nothing will happen to her. With the purging of the military except for those who are part of the groupthink can only make the situation worse. Instead of bring the nation together, it appears all the left is doing is to consolidate their power and isolate anyone else. Either one is for them or they are against you is what is becoming evident. Couple this with the many virus[s], imloding economy, stock market manipulation, upcoming price increases on needed items America is starting to become Balkanized.

I said open them, and see what it out there,
you seem to have blinders on,,, looking narrowly in one direction that is always towards trump,
the past,
and look at the names involved, and what they are doing now,
another picked at random
March 1, 1971: A bomb exploded in the United States Capitol, causing an estimated $300,000 in damage. The Weather Underground Organization claimed credit for the bombing, which was done in protest the U.S. bombing of Laos.[10]
here is another
March 1, 1954: United States Capitol shooting: Puerto Rican nationalists led by Lolita Lebrón shot and injured five members of the U.S. House of Representatives during an immigration debate. They wanted to highlight their desire for Puerto Rican independence from the U.S. The assailants were arrested, tried and convicted in federal court, and imprisoned. In 1978 and 1979, their sentences were commuted by President Jimmy Carter; all four returned to Puerto Rico.
and now we have a member of congress lying thru her teeth (taking clues from Smollet? Williams? or Hogg?) about threats to her
a dead Officer that the coroner has supposedly said they cannot find a connection to the event as a cause of death,
pics of Cap Cops doing selfies with the folks,
so miss?? or approve?Comment

Neither miss or approve, just inviting discussion.
'54/'71/'83 were attacks related to foreign policy, which was not a partisan issue. Consequently the response to them was unified, and political indecision did not slow law enforcement.
'21 was a partisan attack, with the intent of keeping a party in power who had lost the election according to all legal agencies. So by definition the attempt, however poorly conceived and executed, was extra-legal. In other words, a coup attempt.
Only a fool would think that a failed coup would be taken lightly in the aftermath. But one need not be a fool to hope it could be taken lightly, if overthrow of the government is what one seeks.
During 4 years of Trump you never once heard me endorse overthrowing him through extra-legal means. I favored letting the voters do it, through elections, but understood that with Ukraine, Trump forced Pelosi's hand. Pelosi knew that Trump wouldn't get removed from power, but she also knew that he needed henchmen, and the ordeal of an impeachment proceeding would take many of his henchmen out of the game. She had to protect the Democratic stable of candidates with the power her office gave her. It was the right call.Comment

We know you will never let the even go! Even though the majority of the people inside the Capital were far out nut cases. Both sides have them.....Tell me that's not true! Just look at the damage the Libs have done to many businessesover last summer!Last edited by rayg; 02-05-2021, 06:07.Comment

Ray if you read my posts, you would see that I clearly draw a distinction between what happened INSIDE versus OUTSIDE the capitol. Many saw what was happening above the steps and wisely turned around and left.
Don't be in too big a hurry to turn the page on this.Last edited by togor; 02-05-2021, 06:07.Comment
