    Some People never learn ...

You would think in this day and age with blackouts, food shortages
cropping up more and more often that people would figure out that
it might be wise to do a little preparation - just in case. But no, it's
the same old story, bewilderment at finding empty shelves, disbelief
when the kitchen tap fails to deliver and no batteries for the dim flashlight.
Now if these folks had been Boy Scouts or the Girl's equivalent they might
know better, but alas, those organizations are not like they used to be.

The electric often goes off where I live because trees topple on the
power lines when it's raining and windy. But I was a Boy Scout.

I keep my pantry full of canned goods and my freezer full of perishables. I keep my propane tank full.

Too many people continue to live on a boat on the river denial.
Went to the local Stihl dealer today to check on a larger chain saw for this years firewood.

I ran a store in a suburb east of town,

good mixture of folks, every demographic,

the area has lots of pines, and gets lots of ice etc (not much snow)

so power goes out often when the winter storms hit,,,

        and they loved Frozen Food,

storm forcast, super busy day, FF Section would get wiped out, and then they would loose power for a few days, no freezers, no microwaves, no stoves working,,

toss it all and come back afterwards and buy more,,,

        several times a season

Will Rogers said there's three kinds of people. Apparently there's a fourth kind.

So I took a walk down the street yesterday. So a few houses with garden hoses still hooked up, a few with exposed water lines leading to their homes and many just a half assed wrap job on their main water pipe. I just shook my head. I've got my pipes super wrapped, insulated the water meter box, dripped the water at my faucet's which the city opposed, have a high end water filtration system, a water bladder, a portable generator and flashlights. Why because I was a Boy Scout and know that xxxx happens. All for less then $800 over the course of a few years.
