Do the crime. Its fine in Illinois.

No need to make bail anymore. Gov. Prickster just signed off on eliminating it. Bail is unfair to poorer criminals of color. Of course the Gowno(pronounce Guvnah) made it sound more politically correct.

Those poor colored boys should be allowed 5 crimes free.
    One murder
    Two armed robberies
    Two carjackings

If they exceed that they're given a warning.

Well, what's the point of bail, if innocent until proven guilty actually means anything? Yeah, I know, give someone incentive to stick around for the trial or the money is lost. But there is lots that can go wrong there as well. Speedy trials should be part of the reform too.

true, but too speedy will be frowned upon as not taking the time to give due process,

I made a few folks mad when they mentioned colored people I would ask what color were they?

Murder calls for a strong warning. Ordinary theft, well that's just day to day business. Shoplifting is just showing some initiative.

He should do something for the taxpayers-and the victims-by defunding the public defenders and requiring the law firms, especially the well connected and big league ones, to defend criminal defendants-at their expense. The legal appeals for former Governor Ryan were handled pro bono by a big league law firm, what's good for a white collar criminal who victimized the whole state is good for some dindonuffin who's trying to turn his life around.

There's not much good about anything in Illinois! I live in a bordering State and have friends who live in Ill.

Some really good guns have been made in Illinois over the years. At the Rock Island Arsenal, for example. (Sorry MT, it's not in Iowa). Geneseo too.

The concept that someone is innocent until proven guilty is a misnomer. Actually someone is not guilty until proven guilty, but they are not presumed to be innocent. They have been formally and officially arraigned for a crime they are believed to have committed. Then it is up to the legal system to prove guilty or not guilty.

Not a lawyer, but yeah I suppose when charged one gets into a grey area.

I do know that in traffic court, it's the other way though: presumed guilty until proven innocent!

Traffic court was an eye opener for me. Don't try to defend yourself. I was just an observer.

I used to go to court fairly option due to prosecuting Shoplifters,

while waiting for the case to come up one afternoon, they called up a traffic case,

dude flew thru a construction zone at 90+ MPH at night , (3 lane highway restricted down to 1)

older Indian or Paki guy, tried to play the no speak english trick and the Judge shut that down,

                        he got a year,

moral, don't speed in a construction zone and don't piss off the judge,

Yellow zone case I lost even though I had commercial plates.
Running red light case I won (light was obscured )

Clerk gave me form to sign with boxes already ticked. I refused.
Ticked box said Officer need not appear.
Clerk amended form. Under oath he admitted light was not readily visible.

There was one guy who hadn't paid his ticket in month. He said, he was broke from paying for school books and he was busy going to school and he was busy moving to another apartment. The judge told him, I don't think you've tried very hard to pay this ticket. He had him put in handcuffs and hauled away. I'm betting he got let loose within the hour, but it got his attention. The only guy that walked was this sharp business looking dude. He brought his lawyer. You could tell it was all lawyer respect. The rest of the crowd just babbled and were found guilty.

That bill in Illinois also levied restrictions on law enforcement officers. Along with individual officers required to carry certifications as though they're subcontractors.
It all political correctness hiding behind so-called reforms political radicals were demanding. More votes on election day by caving in rather than stand ground for what's good for the general population at large.
Gov Prickster is beaming over being the first in the nation to adopt these policies.
Willing to bet there is no research showing this crap even comes close to the results they're wishing for.
