Every day the media flaunts covid deaths just to scare unwitting people. There are no reports of common flu deaths! Remember when the common flu would almost shut down schools and businesses? There were a lot of deaths back then. The democrats want to keep scaring people about covid only so that they can continue with their mail in voting fraud!

Covid panic is in part due to politics (discrediting Donald Trump, the desire all politicians have for control and power, ect.) I have no doubt that if there had been no covid 19 we'd still be arguing about Pres. Trump here. Yep, the Dems did take advantage of the situation to bend voting rules in a couple of key states to their advantage.

Flu can be bad, some strains, like the Hong Kong flu of the 1960s caused made a lot of people sick and killed a good many of them. BUT! in an average year influenza kills about 60,000 people in the United States. In just over a year this bug has killed a half million. even allowing for some exaggeration that's a big difference. I've had the flu and I've had a mild case of covid 19 and there is no comparison between the flu which put me in bed for a few days and "mild" covid which put me in bed for three weeks and for most of that time I was real sick.

I think its interesting that Florida with pretty modest restrictions has had about as much success dealing with the emergency as places like California that have shut everything down.

A lot of government health care types have looked on this as their little moment of glory. Dr. Fauci is a good example. When you're a hammer every problem is a nail.

I met a guy a few days ago that told me he was down like you, and yet his wife and son have very mild cold like symptoms,

You are correct and it is true that many people infected with covid have no symptoms at all.

Then there's my niece who got Rona last summer and still can't smell, and everything tastes like gasoline. Don't recall the flu doing that to people. Nor has there been a flu in my lifetime that clogged ICUs the way Rona does when it spikes in a region.

As it happens a mild flu season because of the Covid-19 precautions.

I might have mentioned my friend who got it. His wife got it visiting the relatives. He told her to come right home. That was pretty selfless and he got it from her. She didn't feel to bad. He felt awful for two weeks. He said, at one point he was wondering how much he could take.

Most doctors this year have not had a single case of the flu to treat. As they say it's thanks to Covid that people are wearing masks, using sanitizer and washing their hands and not catch the flu. It's reported as being below 5% of what it should be this time of the year.

If you subtract from that half million figure all those whose death
would have occurred anyway from any of a multiple of deadly diseases,
then the figure would possibly look more like yearly Flu deaths.
Plus, how many were Flu deaths ?
Healthy people are mostly immune.

we will never know the true number,

with the Gov giving payouts to hospitals etc, there has been fraud, and it has been documented in the past (IIRC even the UK had to go back and revise some numbers)

I wouldn’t trust much of anything put out by DeSantis after he fired the state’s chief data scientist because he didn’t like her numbers. He then sent a SWAT team to toss her home as further humiliation.

By the way, the Dakotas have minimal lock downs and mask useage. Their infection rates are out of sight.

do you consider NY's numbers accurate?

I got a flu shot last January and another in Sept. Knock on wood haven't gotten sick this year. I'm skeptical like many on the death numbers not only here but also in many other countries, however I do know this virus is real and can kill you.
