    Children are now protected.

Our fearless drunken and wrinkled leader of the House just stated with the passage of new gun control laws that the "Children are now Protected".

Wow what a relief to know my children are all protected.

It's called the "Honest Firearm Owners Elimination Bill". Certain districts of Chicago are not affected by the bill.

“Protecting children” is the refuge of scoundrels.
..of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an fawning court to the people; commencing demagogues, and ending tyrants. -Alexander Hamilton , The Federalist Papers

They passed on a Federal level what Crook County IL has been doing for years. Gun shows now have dealers present to handle FFL transfers and NICS at a fee substantially lower than the standard transfer fees.
It serves to delay possession and forces some long drives for pickup after the NICS clears and the IL waiting period has been fulfilled.

There is nothing that curtails the already illegal transfers in the crime ridden areas. It does make traditional F2F transfers a crime in spite of both parties having valid FOIDs.
The law pretty much inconveniences law abiding people and criminalizes others unaware of a single county's ordinance.

What it does do is destroy the gun industries involved. Shows moving across county lines. Dealers having a tougher time running a business due to the Cook County Violence Tax. Applied to every gun purchase and every single round of ammunition purchased. A 500 round brick of 22lr means the tax is applied 500 times. Whereas a box of 30-06 is only taxed 20 times.
Supposedly, the tax is intended to cover hospital treatment for victims of violent crimes. What it really is, is a penalty imposed on the law abiding paying for the sins of the lawless.

I make mention of it because Cook County was the test bed. Now that they've passed the first portion nationwide, its only the nose of the camel. The rest is on its way.
Its a temporary revenue generator designed to eliminate the gun industry by inflicting small cuts that never stop bleeding.

Meanwhile, the sinners run amok without fear.
