Law professor fired after saying black students are at bottom of her class

Professor is fired after saying black students are at bottom of her class

Georgetown Law professor is fired after saying black students are 'plain at bottom of her class almost every semester' and her colleague is suspended for failing to correct her after they were accidentally recorded their zoom chat

Georgetown Law on Thursday fired white professor Sandra Sellers, 62, over her comments about black students because She had been filmed on a Zoom call with another professor stating that in her class, 'a lot of my lower ones are blacks'

She described her black students as 'just plain at the bottom'

Sellers was speaking to Professor David Batson who has been placed on administrative leave pending a further investigation

Batson did not respond directly to her comments in the conversation
He was condemned for not calling her out on her statements

The video had been available for students to view on an online portal for 2 weeks
Georgetown removed it this week after it was reported by a student, and launched a full investigation into the 'abhorrent' comments

It was shared on social media by a student before being removed

Freedom of speech is no longer tolerated. Not only statues and landmarks are being destroyed or renamed all history is under attack, books are being banned and burned, and even our Navy is being made to swear their oath again.
That is totally insane. If you swear to something and some dude (the CNO) comes along and says, ?All you SOB’s are liars... we don?t believe you... you gotta do it again or you are out of here.?

I’d bet my best squirrel dog that not one person in, 100 (without using Google) could tell you when bringing African slaves into the USA Was outlawed.

      How about....

A law professor who categorizes students by skin color, in 2021, missed a pretty important boat, the S.S. Ought-To-Know-Better, somewhere along the way.

What black law student wouldn't question whether or not they get a fair shake in her class? Law isn't like mathematics, where the answer is in the numbers, and numbers don't see skin color.

I'm not a fan of cancelling, but in this case a resignation was apparently in the works anyways.

A problem in the world of Woke is that truth is not a defence if you are talking about an identifiable group.

As I recall, the treaty concerning the Northwest Territory prohibited slavery. Don't recall the date it became effective nor anything before that date concerning the prohibition of slavery.

To bad as it was intended to be a private conversation but accidently went live. Togor what world do you live in when something as apparent as that would not get mentioned by a teacher in a pvt conversation with an other? And your post could lead one to believe you don't believe in free speech...Lol?..

while I agree the professor should have not commented, publicly, or at all, due to wokeness, I would like to see the stats for her class, and the other classes,

it may be true that African Americans have grades below the other demographics,

and if so, then the folks on the bottom , by demographics, would be numbers,, (Mathmatics, Law, Biology matters not)

The conversation was not intended to be public and it was supposed to be just a private conversation between the two professors but it was accidently recorded on an open mike...Those darn open mikes will get you every time!.Lol

There's a LOT of "I went to college" I often hear.
Learned the hard way never to ask about their major and what type of degree they earned. Shouldn't ask where they went to school either.
Community college. They majored in 'remedial'. No degree in anything or anything that matters.

Should you ask then stand back and brace yourself. You unwittingly identified yourself as a racist white supremacist and you'll be quoted as saying whatever they can make up.

In the World of Woke Truth is not any sort of objective or verifiable idea but is determined by The Party Line, and as noted, there are different truths for different groups.
The one lawyer I socialize with told me in her law school the only exam is the final exam and it is graded anonymously. Students are assigned an ID number, the instructors see only that when they grade the exam.

That's not a bad policy -- that the graders not know who they are grading, and are un-influenced by anything other than the answers.

I’ll be damned if I can see what was so repulsive. She said that she suffered much angst at the class rankings, meaning much anxiety. Don’t suppose that the word “angst” threw a few people. Reminds me of the kerfuffle about “niggardly” a few years back.

How about this then: remedial VIDEOCONFERENCE training for all staff so they know where the feed is going.

I remember talking on the phone once about a meeting I was connected too, and by default that meeting gave me an unmuted mic. Now luckily I didn't say anything bad about this meeting, but I could have as it was a dumb meeting (as most meetings are in my experience). Ever since I quadruple-check the mic settings when connected. Feel like I dodged a bullet that time.

It's getting-along-101 that we choose our words carefully in professional settings. Especially in education.

If that law professor had lied and stated the black students were always at the top of her classes, she would probably have been immediately given an endowed chair position or made Dean of the law school. We can no longer speak the truth if it offends the Woke.
