Art, Thank you for the link

Thank you for the link Art, yep that's the town , El Aguila Valle . In 89 it was smaller and access was a single lane dirt road .

We do indeed grow both coffee and plantains though I'm in no position to call them "money " crops . We operate the farm and a small school for the benefit of numerous families who are happy to remain there and likely will as long as the farm operates.

That is the "wall" my wife and I have invested in... as long as they are happy on the farm they have no interest in coming here to take my cleaning job .

My payment out of all this is about 25 lbs of coffee to bring home every year ..... seems a fair enough exchange to me

In that vein, here is what the Representative from El Paso TX wrote recently about the "border crisis" I think she makes a lot of sense.

"I Represent El Paso. What I'm Asking For Doesn't Include Open Borders.

Until we address what motivates vulnerable people to leave their home countries, they will continue to come."

"We address" ? Wouldn't it be nice if "We" could clean up the World's mess
so that everybody is happy in their own country with no wish to leave.

How about "they" clean up their own mess?

Obama said illegals are good for the US economy -- why don't they stay home and improve their own economy.

Very easy for all of us here in the United States to question why people don't just stay home and improve their own country .

Anyone here on this forum actually met and spoke with someone whose had to flee their own country ? .... I have

I've visited those camps of refugees in Pakistan that fled Afghanistan in 1987. Can you imagine being so desperate that you'd chance your families life to cross a border ?

I've been to South and Central America and well understand why impoverished people can't change their lot in life, by vote or otherwise . But why should America be involved ?

Cuba is a fine example of why . The United States has spent decades after decades doing everything it can to cripple the economy of that island in order to prove communism is a failure. We actually subsidize the sugar industry here {welfare} in order that our sugar companies can show a profit while selling cheaper than buying from Cuba. And then we whined no end when Cubans waded ashore in Florida .

I'm not afraid of someone wanting to come here and pick my lettuce and tomatoes.... only that I'll never see an American willing to do so.

As a presidential candidate, Biden proposed spending $4 billion over four years to tackle violence, climate change and government corruption in the Northern Triangle region — comprised of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. This is the process Harris will oversee.-

I'm pretty sure that will take care of the problem.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.
