interesting article, lots of drama in it,

and apparently all over a NC woman

What provoked this Montana this raid? Doe’s former girlfriend from North Carolina filed a restraining order (a civil matter, not criminal) against Doe in that state claiming he was homicidal, suicidal, a threat to her, and had bomb-making materials with the intention to cause harm. She also claimed he had booby traps all over the home and the surrounding property. But none of this was true.

A dramatic example of why "Red Flag Laws" are usually a bad idea and how they can be misused. If there was ever an example of "beat the rap but not the ride" this is it.

Now these poor SOBs not only are stuck with the trauma of the raid, but the cost of cleaning up after. Even worse they'll have to fight to get their property back and may spend more on that than its' worth.

Maybe bad police raids are just that, including when they break down the "drug house door" but oops, wrong address.

In other words, problem is bigger than red flag gun laws, if people willing to see it that way.

The problem is bigger than red flag laws but a red flag laws were the culprit in this case.

there is NO Civil matter must be Criminal Matter in order to investigate and have evidence- Then once this is present the Feds can come in!!! This is just the Liberal/socialization of a take over of our countries rights. Another what the liberals are doing right now "snitch on your neighbor, your parents" There is no evidence what so ever to conduct this Federal raid. Its just a snobby ex girlfriend who has a corn cobb up her rear and to just cause an issue with an ex, Nothing more.
I remember when Obama was President I saw what his Feds were doing to FFL holders- Same thing The people had better get a clue because we the people must protect our rights.

also another case where some surveillance, and arrest at the local gas station or McDonalds , (or a routine traffic stop) may have been more appropriate??

of course, that would also be armchair quarterbacking

Wouldn't be spectacular enough, and not generate political support for a larger budget.

Mistakes will always be made as in all other public and private agencies! Only too bad this was a serious one..

But when police make the mistake the city gets out the checkbook but nothing much else happens, or if it does, if police held to some account, then Ray gets ornery, LOL.
