the assault weapon definition matters, due to the proper paperwork and legality in some states.

And had a gun in his possession -- simultaneous possession of guns and drugs is a felony.

He was dishonorably discharged from the military for heavy drug use. That must have been a very serious charge against him as when I was in the Army most light drug users got an Article 15.
