    The Thought Police Strike Again

I see there is a move to get Oral Roberts University booted from the NCAA Basketball tournament because the schools orthodox Christian views on human sexuality are unacceptable to the woke left. If I was at Baylor or Brigham Young both of which have teams in the tournament either on the men's or women's side I might be a bit concerned because their official doctrinal statements aren't very different from those of ORU. In fact, officially at least, neither are the doctrinal underpinnings of Catholic schools like Notre Dame or Boston College.

Tolerance is not affirmation. I believe in toleration, I do not believe that I have to affirm the beliefs of everyone I'll tolerate. The left, on the contrary, believes if you aren't willing to fall in lockstep with them you need to be punished.

Gonzaga is a Jesuit university which has underpinnings against gay marriage, contraception and abortion. Gonzaga is also the number one seed and has been the number one team the entire season.

I also forgot about Loyola of Chicago.

They haven't gone after the Catholic or Baptist universities (yet) because they represent at least a plurality of the Christians in the United States, we're talking tens of millions of people whose butts are in the pews every Sunday. ORU, on the other hand, is a convenient target with a student body of about 4,000 and no denominational affiliation. It is, however, a shot across the bow of those Baptists and Catholics, make no mistake about that.

If Oral Roberts is taking an activist position against gays etc., then there could be some blowback. Domino #1 for the NCAA is equality between mens and women's athletics, and domino #2 is the fact that there are a lot of lesbians in women's collegiate athletics. If Oral Roberts preaches discrimination as a protected religious belief, they're doing it in this landscape. And make no mistake they're trying to make money off of a secular activity, basketball, same as any God-less state school.

I just read Oral Roberts position on sex and sexuality. It varies little, if at all from any of the institutions mentioned above by Oscars and me. Sexual activity outside of heterosexual monogamy is not condoned. Some schools dance around it a bit but when it comes right down to it that's the position of all of them. Baylor's position is hard core, when you get through the fluff, but they represent a huge denomination (Southern Baptists) and are a powerhouse school in women's basketball, a regular member of the final four with three national championships. So far this year the "Lady Bears" have annihilated their tournament competition

From what I can tell, this is just picking on the littlest guy with picking on the bigger guys (Notre Dame, Baylor, Brigham Young) coming later after they see how this pans out.

By the way, some women's sports have more lesbians than others. Softball is probably first with Basketball a close second. It isn't just the athletes, there are plenty of lesbian coaches as well. This is a very closely guarded issue in women's sports at every level both secular and and religious at the "amateur" scholastic level and in the pros, after all, it could hurt revenue if it was generally acknowledged . So you don't hear about it unless a coach is fired for inappropriate conduct with an athlete (Bev Kearny at Texas or Pokey Chatman at L.S.U.) I've met Kearny briefly at the Atlanta Olympics, she seemed quit a nice woman. "Squeezin' the Charmin" gets its share of male coaches of the ladies fired also.

One coach of high school girls basketball told me that in addition to regular team drama you have issues between lovers on the team and tension between straight and gay players. I was once felt out about coaching a lower level girls team and am so glad I begged off.

THE BEE IS SAVAGE: 15-Year-Old Boys’ Soccer Team Demands Equal Pay For Beating U.S. Women’s Team.

And it’s a joke, except not really: FC Dallas under-15 boys squad beat the U.S. Women’s National Team in a scrimmage. 5-2.
