Because racist simpletons who blame China cannot distinguish Chinese from others. Same simpletons who murdered Sikhs in the 9/11 aftermath.
Normally quiet publicly, its a perfect time for them to be politically counted alongside the black/brown as not to suffer the same racist policies being inflicted against whites.
Take notice. The Asians understand the concept of peaceful protest. At least for now. The Chinatown gangs haven't been coerced by the likes of Antifa yet.

Nope. There's a ton of them, but they're OK.

I read an article a bit back that I can't now access but it had a couple of interesting stats.

In 2020 in New York City there were 20 or 21 "hate crimes" against Asians in which people were arrested and prosecuted. 11 were by blacks (no surprise to me,) 4 by black Hispanics 5 by white Hispanics and the rest by plain old white people. Then there is the idea that hate crimes against Asians were up over 100 percent. The problem that the number of hate crimes against Asians, while up significantly was still around 200 total in a national population of well over 300,000,000. Most of the prejudice against Asians, and it does exist, that leads to acts of violence, comes from black people because of cultural and economic issues.

Racism against Asians has become a problem in higher education where exclusive private universities are holding down the number of Asians by refusing scholarships and passing them over for admission. Asian groups are starting to file lawsuits over this.

              Art,

wondering in those hate crimes mentioned, how many were Asian shop owners in predominately black or hispanic neighborhoods

in this area we had a spike in gun sales to Asians about this time last year when the Rona was getting 24/7 news, and a few reports I recall locally about folks name calling etc,

but I don't recall any serious crime against Asians,

One of the first acts by the Biden Administration was to drop the DOJ lawsuit against Yale for its anti-Asian admissions policies.

My money is some of them, were in black and Hispanic communities. It doesn't surprise me that you don't recall any serious crimes against Asians because in most cities it isn't much of a problem.

Allison Collins is the only black member of the San Francisco School Board. Until yesterday she was its vice president. Then some tweets revealing her true attitudes about Asians came out.

When people keep playing the racism card, it sometimes comes back to bite them in the butt.

When president of Harvard, Lawrence Summers said that he could fill every slot in the freshman class with Asian girls with perfect math scores on their SAT’s.

And he should have -- isn't college admission based on merit?

What's with this "they" ? I haven't seen any anti-Asian riots here in NJ, the Chinese restaurants are still open, the martial arts students are not burning their pictures of Bruce Lee.
