Why such an outcry over voter ID?

Most people have an ID. You need one to get a drivers license, to buy alcohol and do certain banking. Anyone can get an ID. Here in Iowa you have to have an ID to vote. When that was put into State law the Iowan democrats about sh!t their pants.
Sooner or later all these illegal immigrants will have to have an ID. Or, the corrupt democratic government will just give them one!

Democrats oppose Voter ID because they'd have to photograph all those headstones.
Proof of residency is required for school enrollment. I have read of several cases locally of students removed from school because they weren't legal residents of the district.

To look at it from a different perspective, here in Canada, to vote, you are supposed to have government-issued photo ID that displays your address. If you don't have that, there are a number of alternative IDs that can be used but you need two of them.

I fail to see why needing ID is an issue. As others have pointed out, you need ID for any number of things including opening a bank account and getting a credit card.

I do understand, however, that other elements of their new legislation can be interpreted as devices to discourage non-white voters and if true, that would be morally unacceptable.
