Some lunatics want to figure out how to block the sun! That will stop global warming, they say! Well, it would also stop crops, trees, etc. from growing too! Humans get a lot of vitamin D from the sun. Your solar panels would be just junk on the roof.

That's a fun idea. Maybe some satellites can take a big curtain up and place it in orbit so there's some shade on the sunny side for a few hours a day.
