    Minneapolis 3rd Precinct

Article about how after the Minneapolis 3rd Precinct was abandoned by police, how the local residents stepped up and kept things together, including carrying firearms. It runs counter to the narrative that some like to push that the cities, especially in dangerous neighborhoods, are riots waiting to happen, if not for the heavy hand of the police. Sometimes it's the heavy hand that instigates the riots.

Did a heavy hand cause the storming of the Capitol?

I agree that too many neighborhoods are waiting on a chance to riot. Just curious, but what were the locals going to do with the firearms?

Some of us would argue that it's too many years of welfare giveaways that have resulted in a sky high rate of illegitimacy that have turned many neighborhoods into riots waiting to happen.

Togor I know the Washing post is one of your favorite liberal news sites as they only report the news that liberals like to hear and you often quote them.. Nothing wrong with what those folks are trying to do but it is like a needle in a hay stack as far as crime in MN goes! And the WP knows that but are trying to distract from the crime facts. Typical liberal training and you use that here often too..Lol

Authorities say violent crimes in Minneapolis ballooned by 21% in 2020,

        Property crime increased by 10%,

          Read the article.

As for the Capitol, the police did not cause that riot. A politician did.

Ray what do your sources tell you about how much of this violence increase is related to Covid-19? I would think a lot of it is, sort of "idle hands... Devil's workshop way".

interesting that a truce was done with gangs,

The day after the first night of rioting, Ortega and other community leaders called a meeting in the neighborhood park. They stood in a circle of about 40 men, women and teenagers, as they’d done numerous times before to discuss community issues, but this time was different: Gang leaders were invited. Rival gang factions had made Little Earth one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Minneapolis, but a bigger threat was emerging that night in May. Rioting threatened to touch homes and destroy community lifelines, including the nearest grocery store. Ortega wanted to organize a community patrol, and she wanted assurances that there would be no gang violence with the threat of outside violence looming.

“The gang leaders each wanted a cease-fire from the other side,” Ortega said. “They wanted to know that we were all in this together.”

The sides agreed to a truce. Community elders were asked to encourage their children and grandchildren to stay indoors. The Protectors patrolled the streets. Ortega, then a policy adviser for a city council member, said she was arrested on the first night along with a handful of her colleagues for breaking curfew. The charges were later dropped.

wonder how that will work out long term,

The covid created "idol hands"? What created "idol hands" is the welfare system! It wasn't only minorities, but all people! But, the law abiding people did not look forward to looting! Also, a politician did not cause the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. It was the democrats who spurred antifa and BLM to be there and cause trouble.
