This is one of the most prestigious magnet high schools in the United States. Application (so far) has been purely merit based on science and technical aptitude. Not surprisingly the student body is 65% Asian, 22% white and the rest something else.

Well there's trouble in paradise. The Board there is considering putting a cap on Asians at 54% of the student body. This will be achieved by adding subjective criteria to the selection process. Obviously the Asian moms and dads are extremely upset about that. They are also being targeted (demonized?,) along with the white kids as being intrinsically racially flawed and guilty of the oppression of black people. The Asian parents, who pay attention to everything in school (its tragic everyone doesn't) are upset about that too. They and the white parents are both up in arms about both the restrictions based on race and the CRT stuff.

An amendment to the anti Asian hate crimes bill that would have prohibited discrimination against Asians in higher education admissions by Senators Kennedy and Cruz failed in the Senate 49-48. Every present Democrat voted against the bill and every present Republican voted for it. The Amendment did not pass because the Democrats filibustered it, ie it didn't get the required 60 votes to get a final vote. The filibuster is a good thing sometimes if you're a Dem.

This is nothing more than the endorsement of rank discrimination based on race.
