Shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline shows the failure of our infrastructure

The shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline this week demonstrated that our actual infrastructure is vulnerable and that our lives can be disrupted quickly when it fails.

Democrats refuse to prioritize REAL infrastructure ? like Colonial Pipeline

Fresh from blocking construction of another major pipeline (the Keystone XL), the Biden administration flailed, while a nation that just a year or so ago became a net oil exporter found itself facing fuel shortages. That?s infrastructure.

is a computer part of the infrastructure?

    pipeline is fine, runs great,
it's the software that was hacked shutting it down,

The average NY post copywriter won't know the difference. Just writing whatever Rupert tells them to write. In this case, blame Biden for sloppy IT practices at a pipeline company.

            We all know it's true.

There's not enough money in the field anymore to support large talent pools that allow individuals to cultivate narrow areas of deep expertise.

The species of journalist with in-depth knowledge of a field is not extinct, but there are far fewer of them roaming the land today than in bygone years.

Journalists are also stifled by their editors into reporting only one side of a story, normally the liberal side.

                Yeah, yeah...
Togor seems to know a little about almost everything. Are there journalists anymore? Yes,there are. What happened to those press photographers from the days of old who hefted those Speed Graphics. Now they are issued I phones or supply their own. Or there is a feed of people who supply them with "ego" prints/per instagram. But folks have volunteered photos from day one. My neighbors husband drove a city truck and carried a camera. When a situation presented itself he got the pic and sent it to the paper. His wife gave me some of his M42 lenses. I got converters and played with them some but they were a little radioactive and yellow.

Back to the OP. Everyone needs to take precautions. But do we? You whistle passing the graveyard. We all do it. By-the-by, the hackers are from Russia I guess, but that doesn't mean Putin. It could be two guys in a basement with big brains. They could be in Poland. It's a game. A lot of fun for a very smart weirdo to yank around half of a country just because you can(which has nothing to do with actual oil pipelines). What 25 yr. old couldn't resist? It's a game for gamers. Anyone read: Enders Game? Thanks for starting the post Ray.

The most amazing thing is that it took the FBI less than a week to determine Putin had no hand in the hack.

The hackers weren't two guys sitting in a basement. It was done by a collective of cybercriminals that operate freely in Russia. Nothing like that goes on in Russia without Putin's knowledge.
