You can get people to believe damn near anything if you package it right and push the right emotional buttons. Sci-Fi writers have been putting this fact in their plots for years.

I will hold my opinion on it until it is proven true or not! Until then I'm not going to discount it right out! Facebook has released this new threat report saying that Russia is the top source of foreign influence campaigns, and saying the company has removed more than 150 shady disinformation groups over the past five years and if so it deserves some thought..

The U.S. topped a list of the countries most frequently targeted by deceptive foreign influence operations using Facebook between 2017 and 2020, the report on Wednesday said.

Short answer....of course the Russian government is trying to do a mind f*ck on the American public with their own social media platforms. The surprise would be if they weren't! They do not think of us Amis as their friends.
