    Biden. America's leading segregationist?

Never mind most of the Tulsa facts have been lost to history. Bidens speechwriters chose to fill in the blanks for us. A case of revisionist history gone totally wrong.

Before our forum leftists accuse me of denying racism played a role, I'm not going to that extreme. So save your twisted BS.

The facts are there was no lynching as Biden described. The young man was taken into custody due to rumours stemming from a mix of both racism and yellow journalism.
Fact. Armed blacks assisting the police fired into the rowdy crowd of whites killing at least 10. Two black men were killed during some return fire.
An armed black man who was being disarmed resisted and his firearm discharged killing an oil company owner.
Yellow journalism described train loads of reinforcements enroute.
The battle raged even further over the course of days.
At least one train was riddled from both sides as it rolled into a battle ensuing on both sides of the tracks.
People on both sides were found dead here and there. Some were described later as being the results of friendly fire.
The actual body counts were relatively low at first.
Looting was for additional arms and ammunition after discovering the local armory was well guarded.
Then the battle became a rout and the whites had the upper hand. Those blacks who weren't arrested and sent off to the side in makeshift detention camps were either leaving or remained fighting.
Key buildings and homes in Greenwood were set ablaze. No firemen were allowed into the area. Those who tried were treated as combatants. Whites protecting blacks were punished.

Body counts on both sides were high but blacks suffered more by almost a 3:1 ratio in the end.

Biden stopped short of the facts. Made up new ones. Named every race out there. Exception being the word white was followed by either supremacy or supremacists.
Casualties were described vaguely but leaned towards being black only. No mention of yellow journalism or who fired the first shots. No mention of escalation leading towards a final fervor. Mentioned that nobody was ever tried for it while neglecting to mention both whites AND blacks were initially indicted. There were many corruption charges against the chief of police though.

Did you know that the KKK originally started after WW1 to keep Catholics under control? The Gospel according to Biden. All those years of post Civil War ongoings never happened? Can't draw connecting lines back to the Democratic party now. Can we?

Cut to the chase. More black people are now pissed off at whites in general. More moderate white people are feeling the wrath of hatred and are shifting focus.
Add to that the rhetoric preached by radicals on both sides are now picking up fans they never would have had before. This is not a good thing. Bad outcome. Many needless deaths. America going to Hell.
The only ones to gain in the short term are the politicians and disciples who are inciting the mess.
Looks a lot like history repeating itself.
In 1921 my family wasn't even in country yet. Post war flu and depression across Europe. Bolshevik threats in the face of weakened governments. Strong resistance breeding in the radical right. Yellow journalism running rampant.
    Sound familiar?

In 1915, white Protestant nativists organized a revival of the Ku Klux Klan near Atlanta, Georgia, inspired by their romantic view of the Old South as well as Thomas Dixon?s 1905 book ?The Clansman? and D.W. Griffith?s 1915 film ?Birth of a Nation.?

This second generation of the Klan was not only anti-Black but also took a stand against Roman Catholics, Jews, foreigners and organized labor.
    E. R. Stephenson, a Methodist Episcopalian minister and a member of the Klan, killed Fr. James Coyle in 1921 because Fr. Coyle had presided over the marriage of Stephenson's daughter to a Puerto Rican. Because Stephenson was a KKK member, the KKK paid for his defense, and in a trial where the judge and the foreman of the jury were both KKK members, Stephenson was acquitted.

Segregationism is a specific thing. Like or dislike Biden's rhetoric overall, is he actually trying to encourage segregation? If so then how?

I'll admit I don't pay nearly the same degree of attention to what Biden says as others here, but the gist of it as I understand it is that he's trying to use the bully pulpit a bit to speak to the concerns of one of his voting blocs. Is that really such an unusual thing for a President to do?

Moreover, are race-relations really a zero-sum game, where one step forward for minorities is equivalent to one step back for others?

Togor, Biden doesn't have a clue. He thinks he means well but his words are divisive. Enraging people on all sides. Those who think they have a bone to pick over things happening over a century ago. On the other side people who are labeled and accused to be held responsible for things done wrong by others who came before.
In the middle are people who despise being pigeon holed according to the color of their skin.Generations of Americans who struggled to assimilate into the mainstream are being looked upon differently. Almost forced to choose a side when all they want to do is live and let live.
I ran errands yesterday which involved a trip into the inner city. Trust me when I tell you that one can feel the tension. More so now that the 70's. Its a slow burn getting more intense with each passing month. Biden is fueling that burn with his words chosen by his talking heads who are leading their own crusade.

Vern, I wasn't aware the Klan had a 'comeback' early on. They were always there according to my learnings. Just going a bit underground on and off. From the forefront to the shadows, but always there.
On the heels of the MLK riots, they would canvas and recruit around the high schools and off-campus haunts Hand billing and talking with whoever's attention they could get. The 'Nazis' were doing the same.
I read their handouts and listened to the sales pitch. Not for me. My bloodlines qualified me but my friends and acquaintances would get me killed. On the flip side, I sometimes snagged a copy of the Chicago Defender. Again, nothing there that would turn me towards different politics or bleeding heart causes. Especially if it meant turning on someone else I considered a good neighbor.

interesting comments on the Klan JB,

when I was in school, and after, I never saw any type of papers, brochures, pamphlets etc for any group,

the Klan was here, and relatively active, but not out in the open,

my Aunt's 2nd or 3rd husband was a Rail guy, and later found out he was also the local chapter Grand Wizard,

my high school buddy found some coins (like a token or challenge coins) in an abandoned building not to far from a bar my Dad hung out at, and not far from where my folks dropped me off in grade school at a sitter,

yet Dad nor the Sitter's family were Klan or attempted to recruit (the sitter was French Canadian)

when my Mother bought the house she is in now,, 25yrs or so ago we cleaned out some stuff in the attic, and found where the previous owner was a Klan member,
he apparently ran or had his kids in a Klan Youth group,
kinda odd seeing kids uniforms,, brown shirt type, not hoods and robes, , and found a box of paperwork

gave that paperwork to the Aunt's husband, who later quit the Klan,, since it was pretty much dead, and he had become more enlightened (as in diverse)

he told us (been 20+ yrs since we saw him, he is likely dead now) he sold all his Klan related stuff,

who would buy that you may ask,,,,,,,

          black folks,,

every single piece of Klan related stuff was bought by Black folks

I'm not sure where you're going with that. It does cause me to refrain from further comment though. At least for the moment
