    A New Migratioon

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/ar...ay_145855.html

The Blue States are losing large groups of their populations, mostly middle and upper middle class, to the the "Free States." This exodus is due almost entirely to the failures of their statist, socialist policies. More would leave if it weren't for family or professional situations that compel them to stick it out. My former partner in New Jersey is an example. The above article says it all on the micro level. These people literally didn't know what they were missing.

Some residents of states like Florida have expressed concern about an ocean full of Yankees flooding in and turning the state "blue." The Governor of Florida says he doesn't worry about that at all and notes that new voter registrations for Republicans are easily outpacing those for Democrats.

Art to be fair it's New Jersey.

More broadly these population shifts, made possible by indoor air conditioning, have been occurring for years.

But there's a reason the W and SW are largely empty, even still--absent large Federal projects, the carrying capacity of the land is less than the east, primarily because of water.

I lived in New Jersey and worked in New York City for six years. Culturally and economically there is darn little difference.

The people in the article are New Yorkers and I think the article is pretty darn eloquent.

Originally the shifts were facilitated by air conditioning, that's no longer the case. They're now facilitated by politics and the cost of living, not necessarily in that order.

Not to mention all these Northern immigrants are taking all the jobs.

Did they mention lack of snow in the article?

Sounds like they are missing additional factors.

The policies of the socialist democrats have certainly had no effect on the mass migration out of the democratic states, huh?

People move for all kinds of reasons, right?

The middle of the country still has trouble hanging onto young people, because of a perceived lack of opportunities in the interior. Now I say this as a lifelong resident of "flyover county" who has successfully swum against that particular tide. But for some occupations, it's a thing.

What Art describes is happening. Is it happening enough to meet the threshold of Cultural Phenomenon? Can't say. Is it a narrative that some are eager to push? Unquestionably.

in this area, it was all about the price of land, and the quality of life,

a lot of the folks that left the area to go north and work reached retirement age and decided to sell the 900sqft house in Jersey or NY ,

they moved to VA, got acreage, nice house, new cars and money left over to remodel the house if needed or start a small retirement sidejob,

I also worked with a couple that moved down when the company they worked for expanded into this area,

they bitched constantly about how Va was NOT NY, and voted like they were still up there,

when reminded the 95 ran north as well, they said they would never move back,,,, for political and $$$ reasons,,

Oh yeah, they just wake up one morning and decide to move somewhere else. I haven't heard of a mass migration from the red states to a blue state, have you?

The Hondurans don't move to Venesuela. I'm never going to be able to spell that.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.
