I thought it would be something about the A-10.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.

Red, this is the Air Force not like a regular military force. My Ranger son said only the A10 drivers knew what to do in combat!

Interesting how SecDef Austin supports effort to remove the chain of command from investigations of sexual assault, accusing peers and superiors of sexual harassment is a good way to derail their careers-the Bush Administration took skin magazines out of the PX-but having a drag queen show is perfectly acceptable, promotes diversity, tolerance, understanding. And if some religious group put on a pageant.....?

Never been to a drag show myself so I'll take your word for it that there are different kinds.

Rag on the AF all you want, better bases, better facilities, enlisted troops treated better. Yep rag on them all you want.

While I and my troops sweated and swopped bugs guarding perimeters of air force bases; the AF guys were in AC barracks eating A-1 chow in a mess hall. The AF perimeter guards never went outside their perimeter. We patrolled well outside their 'wire' to keep charlie at bay!

Listening to a podcast recently about Curtis LeMay, as we were driving back from a canoe trip.

He had just been sent to the Marianas, to take over the B-29 campaign on Japan, which we all know got off to a rocky start due to the unexpected discovery of this thing called the Jet Stream.

The bases had been built quickly, by the Seabees, and were a bit rough. Nimitz invited LeMay to come have dinner at his headquarters, and it was a typical Navy HQ dinner, with everyone in their immaculate dress whites. LeMay then returned the courtesy, inviting Nimitz to come dine at his HQ, where they sat on crates and enjoyed canned rations. Part way through the dinner Nimitz said "okay, I get it" and more materials were allocated by the Navy to finish the bases.

The AAF guys who spent the Italian winter living in tents also had some pretty miserable conditions.

Those of us who served are entitled to razz our fellow veterans. Those of us who are jump qualified will testify to the competence and professionalism of the AF types who got us to the drop zones, the AFNG crews who flew us to annual training one year, and the FACs who were with us grunts on the ground.

I could talk about sleeping in a Sea Hut during the monsoon -- but a Sea Hut wouldn't fit in my rucksack.
