Who does the ****** belong to? Well, I guess he'd be our *****- a great line from a book I read long ago. White people do make fools of themselves falling all over people of color and it helps some.

The Left is encouraging the racial division in this country and the violence until it gets to the point that they will declare "EMERGENCY" powers are needed, which will allow them even more restrictive measures.

Obama stirred things up a bit when he got elected, and then in typical Chicago Politics way, got the big spoon out and stirred it some more,

we are just getting more of that now

1. This country (non black people anyway) has had "blackness fatigue" since it's founding. If we'd never had slavery we wouldn't have "blackness fatigue." It's more complex on the micro level but not on the macro level.

2. Black people from other parts of the world who immigrate here, ie Africans and West Indians do about as well here as other immigrants. In fact there is a not uncommon sentiment among African immigrants that black Americans are not authentically black, or at least not authentically African on any level (more truth to the second part of that than the first.)

3. This is never going away until politicians actually start to deal with the cultural issues that plague the Afro-American communities, something they have never been willing to truly do.

4. ...and finally. It should be noted that "people of color" from all over the world clamor to get into this supposedly racist country by the millions, actually the billions if they could find the money to get into Mexico. We've also, in the past 20 years elected an Afro-American President and Vice President. Since only about 12% of the population of the U.S. is black a lot of white (beige) folks had to vote for them to get that result. Those two things alone should put the lie to the idea that the average "beige" person is a racist. In fact the most perjorative thing you can call a white person in this country is a racist, "people of color" generally being exempt from the term.

5. The "virtue signalling" by white corporate types and politicians is also racist. They are hoping they'll be the last eaten, they are buying off the mob. Want proof? They live in the whitest enclaves and really don't apologize for it. Hell, a lot of them are fleeing to the Mountain West (the most "white bread" part of this country) because they can afford it. Show me one of these people who does more than write a check and say the right things; who actually gets his hands dirty, and I'll show you an honest individual. In fact a lot of black activists also live in the whitest enclaves possible. Patrisse Cullors comes to mind.

Get used to "blackness fatigue." It isn't going anywhere.

My wife and I had supper last night at Cracker Barrel. While waiting to order, I noticed there has been a shuffle of pictures on the facing wall. Of the eight photographs, five were early pictures of black people in early western settings, cowboy, etc. One was a "modern" pic of Duke Ellington. One of the other 3 was of a white woman with a look that could curddle your urine. Now, I don't have a problem with the shuffle, and can't even say they removed "white" pictures; only that something was different on that wall.

I didn't walk thru the resturant to check, so I can't say it's a trend. Has anyone else noticed similar things?

Cracker Barrel had a lawsuit against them years ago for discrimination,
don't remember if it was from employees or patrons,

part of the settlement was that all the stores (at least the one's I've ate in in this state, have a disclaimer posted at the entrance,
the sign says various things about equality, etc etc

We're currently experiencing the biggest push for minority rights since the 1960's. There was a backlash then, and a bit of one now.

Not to say the backlashes are equal.

The reality is, improvements in minority rights only happen when a decent majority of whites endorse them. That is a powerful inhibitor against overreach.

So it might be okay to see where things go for awhile without concluding that it's to a bad place.

Just as most folks agree that most changes since the 1960s are steps in the right direction.

Lyman, I gave a 2 part post.

Someone was worried about EMERGENCY decrees going bad, and I simply pointed out that such declarations were more Trump's style than Biden's. Which is so far true.

If you're critical of Trump's reliance on such decrees, in pretty much every area that law provides, then what can I say except....I agree with you.

Didn't know that. I didn't see a sign, or at least it wasn't obviously displayed and I wasn't looking for it either.
