Covid shot mandate, here it comes

Get the shot then wear the mask and still catch covid, ask Lindsey Graham (SP) ya he got it. Covid passport please, no passport? no you can not go to the store. Until there's a real vaccine and not a test dose of something NOT happening for me. Have a nice day

Our local paper has a county coronavirus update every morning. Just a few weeks back we were only having an occasional case and the hospitals were virtually cleared out of virus patients until the virus mutated, and the count is now anywhere from 10 to 40 new cases a day with the hospitals at full capacity. On those that have been vaccinated the cases are more like a bad cold and last only a few days. Those without a vaccination have been hit especially hard with deaths on the increase. Yes, you may have had the vaccination and get the virus again, but not nearly as severe as those without the vaccination.

It is the nature of viruses to mutate, and maybe the next mutation will be even worse than the one we have now. The vaccination has proven to prevent or lessen the severity of the virus should you get it. As with the flu vaccine, the coronavirus vaccination may require another vaccination possibly altered for the new strain. Doing nothing is not the answer.

Got the Madera vaccine for Covid 19. Thrilled when it was available for my wife, our daughters and their families. One daughters husband and little boy got Covid following exposure at a family gathering where one of the attendees selfishly chose not to tell everyone that she was sick with the mess. Idiot. Sorry, but she knew better. She endangered her own father and mother. My little grandson has struggled w/ respiratory problems since birth. He had a rough time. 5 1/2 years old. Last week, 91 diagnosed w/ the mess.

Got the shingles vaccination a week ago. Had a good friend get shingles. He was fortunate it was mostly on his stomach, etc. You haven't lived till you have it up around your eyes. At least it is not communicable.

Vaccination has largely eliminated any widespread threat of small pox, measles, mumps, rubella, etc. MMR is required before any child can attend school. Polio was a scourge until Salk's vaccine and further developments defanged that threat. It still strikes ... in areas where vaccination is not permitted by idiots w/ AK's who would rather see children ruined than to admit they are wrong.

Covid is about like any other virus. There is a vaccine. In fact, there are a number of vaccines, all of which are extremely effective. It is like the flu vaccine. It may keep you from getting the flu. If not, you will not have as severe a case. Cool. Problem w/ Covid is that it has become enmeshed in a brouhaha comprised of politics, personal privileging, distrust of anyone other than one's own preferred sources of information, resentfulness at anyone someone doesn't like making a decision that they have to accept, etc., etc., etc. It is not unlike how some folks acted when leaded gas was eliminated. Never mind it made things profoundly better for everybody except those who were already dead and therefore did not matter. Anyone above ground has benefited from that one single change. And, it was known for years that mess had to business being in gas. But, everyone pretended it didn't matter. Now, no one in their right mind would support leaded gas.

The time will come when being vaccinated for Covid and other similar public health threats will be dealt with the same as MMR, etc. It will not be the end of the world. If some folks run around doing their best impression of Chicken Little, it still will not mean the sky is falling. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce.
