America's leadership once respected is not so any more!

52% of Americans don't think Biden is mentally or physically up to the job of president and 51% believe someone else is pulling the strings at the White House, new poll finds

The new poll surveyed 1,000 likely voters between August 18 and August 19
More than 50% of people believe someone else is running the White House

Concerns over Biden's fitness as president were rampant during the 78-year-old's campaign for president, with critics claiming Kamala Harris calls the shots
An earlier poll found that not many Americans have confidence in Harris either

Declining confidence in Biden comes amid the US's Afghanistan evacuation

Biden addressed the nation on the unfolding crisis on Friday at the White House
His speech comes after his favorability dipped under 50% for first time in 2021

Since some of this is related to Afghanistan, it's worth examining what a prior office holder said about the Taliban deal at the time it was stuck. People can decide for themselves if this quote below shows more realism than anything the current office holder said this past week.

I really believe the Taliban wants to do something to show that we're not all wasting time. If bad things happen, we'll go back with a force like no one's ever seen.
In my view Biden is being more forthright and realistic in the long run, but still finds himself spinning the evacuation, which is clearly FUBAR.

Agree that admitting a war is lost carries a short term cost to one's image. Probably why we were at it for 20 years. Trump was not wrong to say enough is enough, and Biden was not wrong to follow through. The questions are, could Trump have got a better deal, would it have mattered, and could our pullout have been less messy. None of these questions have obvious answers. I do think the military could have planned in advance ( and secretly) for the "total clusterf*ck over there" scenario better than they have shown.

Meanwhile in Vietnam, Americans are popular as tourists and have been for some time. They warmed back up to us as a government sooner than we did to them.

Agree, hair sniffers last and next to last disaster is the last straw to the rest of the world. Hair sniffer has been all over the place but given his history of abandonment it's no surprise that he did this stuff. The bigger worries are even worse to come with this dummy, he is a Chinese and Russian asset in a political position and is a traitor. He is incompetent to say the least and Barry's old team is making the dummy dance. A weakling like hair sniffer is going to cause far more dead in the future and God help us if Willies pump get into office if hair sniffer is gone. The world has no respect for hair sniffer AKA "the dummy" and as such none for the U.S. which they now see that they can run all over as we have "NO" real or rational decision making adults leading this once great country. Sorry Taiwan Joe will let you go to.

Say what you want but we are importing thousands of afghans into the country. So I guess that winning somehow.
