The Problem, As Always, Is Pakistan

    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/08/w...-refugees.html

The same people who cheered the Taliban takeover are now mad as refugees from Afghanistan pour over their border.

Anyone (Bush, Cheney, Obama) who thought we could bring lasting-anything to this region was dreaming.

      Togor,

In 1987 I personally witnessed the lives of Afghan refugees in Pakistan. Places like Kasha Gari refugee camp and others were filled with over a million refugees and at that time the Pakis were open to helping fellow Muslims .

Your comment ( Anyone (Bush, Cheney, Obama) who thought we could bring lasting-anything to this region was dreaming.} is very true of recent history. We've just spent 20 years and $ billions creating a foreign Army and Government that has proven a waste. Do I believe Bidens efforts on this stellar? no, but after 20 years of four administrations creating a failed effort I don't feel he should be expected to shoulder the weight entirely for our failure in Afghanistan.

I mentioned here recently about what we could have done in 1989. We could easily have changed history for the better and listened to Charlie Wilson .

Those of you who don't care what they do now or later, are what got us from where we were in 1989 to where we are today .... worried about terrorists. And we're worried because we've been "bombing the chit out of them" since post WWII ... and it hasn't proven successful yet
