New York to replace Nurses with National Guard ...

Nurses who have refused jab will be fired. Hey, no problem as anyone
can do what Nurses do, right ? So let's hope these new nurses don't
inject the right stuff into the wrong Patients or the wrong stuff into the
wrong people. I mean what could possibly go wrong with this great idea,
after all a politician came up with it and they're smart. Aren't they ?

My understanding is that the vax rates on the staff are around 95%, and the mandate has general employee support.

The holdouts are being told to have a better reason than "feelings" to say no to their employer, who has a hospital to run in a pandemic.

Sometimes you just have to get in the boat and row. Unless you're wealthy and buy the boat.

        This is a leaky boat.
I think you're confusing understanding with hope.

The problem is this -- assigning unlicensed people to nursing duties is illegal, and opens the state for a huge liability suit. But if the Guardsmen ARE licensed RNs, then where are they coming from? Are they being pulled out of the hospitals where they currently work and being assigned elsewhere? How does switching nurses from one undermanned hospital to another solve the problem?

I had a friend who was an SAS Medic. Probably good at staunching wounds
but would I trust him with Nursing duties ? Hell no.

Note this is the National Guard, not the Regular Army. Members of the National Guard have civilian jobs. The "trained medics" in the guard are already working as medical personnel. Hence my question, "How does switching nurses from one undermanned hospital to another solve the problem?"

And who says assigning untrained people to nursing duties is anything other than insanity?

Nursing is a highly skilled profession -- it's not something Joe Tentpeg can just pick up and learn in a couple of hours.

Or at least she thinks she does.

My wife was a Registered Nurse for more than 50 years, and I can tell you that nursing is a profession. It is not something you can learn in a few hours on the job.
