It is not. However, I attended a religious retreat in Louisiana this weekend, and on the way home I stopped and visited a lady I went to college with. In the course of our talk, she pointed out her father, husband, brother and both sons have been in military service.

On my side, I, my wife, my older daughter and both my brothers have been in military service.

She and I agreed -- we have more respect for those who served.

        Shakespeare was right:

And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

All of the states to the south are entry ways. The Canadians, Icelanders and Greenlanders aren't sneaking into the US. I'd welcome a Greenlander. I'd welcome a Martian. I'm tired of Hispanics everywhere. OOH, that's racist. We are enjoying a month of Hispanic Heritage. And entire month. Why? 'cause it's over? Can you say, Roman Empire? Well, Rome is still there. The earth changes, people stay the same. Well, they change a little. Takes a couple thousand years but it happens. I'd say Mr. Humphrey's post describes young men who didn't have the where with all to get killed. A pretty good poem.

Of course not! BUT, it is obvious that the afore mentioned gentlemen DID NOT serve in the military! I trust most REAL veterans as being honorable and not traitors!

There is a coffee table book, "Dr. Seuss Goes to War."

Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) was a political cartoonist in the '30s and '40s. When I picked up the book, it opened to one of his cartoons. It was an outline of the state of California, with a long line of people snaking across the state. The people whose faces you could see had leering oriental features. They were passing a booth where another man also with leering oriental features, was handing out blocks labeled "TNT."

That took my breath away! That cartoon was drawn to urge the internment of the Nisei, American citizens of Japanese ancestry. They were uprooted, they lost their homes, businesses and were imprisoned in Internment Camps.

The US Army went into those camps and recruited! Young Nisei flocked to join the Army. They formed the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the most decorated regiment of WWII.

And that sleezy cartoonist, who never shed a drop of blood for this country, never heard a shot fired in anger, never wore the uniform sneered at those men!

You really can't generalize from the actions of a single evil man (Afghan). He may be the only pedophile in the large number of Afghan refugees. Now as a comparison, the Catholic Church in France has just announced that about 216,000 children (mostly boys) were sexually abused by French clergy since 1950. This number may increase to 330,000 when lay members and teachers are included. With that huge a number, a generalization may be warranted.
