Alec Baldwin says "She was my friend" Is that why he shot her ? ...

Reminded me of the Monty Python skit where a hunter says
'I love Animals, that's why I shoot 'em"
He also suggested "new rules for guns on set"
Better to have new rules for Idiots on set.

She may have been HIS friend, but he certainly wasn't HER friend.

He also said "this happens only once in a trillion times".

Ironically it happened to one of the biggest gun hating, NRA hating, liberals in the world.

      Was there a hidden agenda?

Only if Baldwin is never allowed near a firearm again.

I wonder where he got that statistic ?

Just remember mr. baldwin, never memorized the first rule of firearm handling:

          "Treat as being loaded."

Because guns ARE in fact more inherently dangerous than say swords, for their ability to kill at a distance, right?

You are arguing that guns are in fact different from other classes of weapons.

Probably you did not mean to do this but it's not like it's some kind of secret.

BTW I agree 100% with this, but then again I was not raised with the fiction that "guns are just like any other weapon" as it's obvious that they're built to kill at a distance, a property highly prized in weapons since the ideal size for a thrown rock was first identified (about the size of an egg).

Before we had written language we had the atlatl.

                yup, basic safety 101

and apparently not taught or practiced at that production company or movie set,

who is arguing? jjrothWA simply made a statement,

same basic rules would apply to a sword or knife,

as in you would not take a sword and try to mockingly hack off an arm,

some stunt knives used to have collapsible blades, and I would imagine protocols were put in place to see that they did not stick open
