John Gerard slipped away to Spain.
If Fawkes hadn't been arrested with 'match in hand' and Parliament
had blown up I wonder what the outcome would have been

England would have carried on with the Stiff Upper Lip, and kept on keeping on,

disruptions,, for a bit, but it would have survived
