    Strategic Oil Reserve

Looks like Slo Joe's strategy in shutting down the U.S. oil industry is starting to pay dividends. Pulling 50 million barrels from the Strategic Oil Reserve should solve the oil shortage problem. Smaller quantities have already been pulled out and shipped off to Asia. Even the Dims are looking at banning oil exports.

With war tensions high, this is a dumb move plus it will not help.
Gas prices will stay high. All it will accomplish is to deplete the strategic reserve.

50 million barrels is what the US uses in three days. I will admit that's a bit misleading because we're still producing and importing oil but the fact remains in the big picture 50 million barrels is not a lot. In addition, the Strategic Reserve is there in case of a catastrophic situation which we are not in.

The greenies sometimes make me laugh. Cut our production in the name of fighting "climate change" and then replace it with product from countries that do not wish us well. What difference does it make, if you're serious about climate change, where the fuel you burn comes from. There's so much hypocrisy on this. Old Michael Moore made a documentary called "Planet of the Humans" on just this subject. It's worth watching and can be seen on you tube. It's the documentary Moore fans love to hate.

Well Art do you want to be living in the country that runs out first or last?

Greens need to take a fresh look at nuclear power, but simultaneously the industry itself needs to get its head out of its own ass. It has allowed costs to get so out of whack that windmills and gas turbines with their obvious problems look far more attractive economically. Those contractors still in the nuclear business strive to milk the living sh*t out of every job that comes in the door, because "cost plus" is the normal operating procedure.

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve wasn't created to control gas prices, or get dumb ass politicians out of trouble. I guess though, Biden does consider his political situation as an emergency.

What good is a precedent if you don't follow it?

They filled the strategic reserve in 2020 to keep the oil workers busy during the pandemic, albeit a short time.

How they filled it has nothing to do with Biden trying to get out of political suicide by a thousand cuts.

I've never known additions or subtractions from the reserve to make a big difference either way in terms of price/availability in my area. Your argument though, seems political, that Biden shouldn't be seen as engaging the problem. Do I have that correct? If he ignores the problem, you will criticize. If he doesn't ignore it, you will criticize. Seems therefore this is less about oil than about wanting to criticize Biden.

What was he calling stupid? The comment (which is OK) or the person (not OK)?

You're the mind reader, you tell me.

I saw the remark but MT got the benefit of the doubt. Sounds like he saves the really salty stuff for PMs. Is there a rule on that? I know of none.

Trend of late seems to be towards self-bans, either Covid, or Father Time, or general indifference.
