Walgreens, Walmart and CVS pharmacies contributed to opioid epidemic!

Walgreens, Walmart and CVS pharmacies DID contribute to opioid epidemic, Ohio jury finds, in landmark ruling

Walmart and CVS 'recklessly distributed painkillers like they were a gumball machine' in two counties in Ohio, a Cleveland jury found on Tuesday

It's the first time pharmacy chains - rather than manufacturers -have been found liable for the health crisis that has claimed more than 500,000 lives in the US

How much the pharmacies must pay in damages will be decided in the spring by a federal judge. CVS Health, Walgreen Co. and Walmart Inc. said they will appeal

The companies acted illegally in filling significant opioid prescriptions in Lake and Trumbull counties, creating an 'oversupply' and a 'public nuisance'

Roughly 80 million prescription painkillers were dispensed in Trumbull County alone between 2012 and 2016 - equivalent to 400 for every resident

US annual drug overdose deaths surged to more than 100,000 for the first time during the Covid-19 pandemic

wonder , well not really, what the state laws are in OH,

in VA,, when I was in the biz, the Rx could only give a couple of pills, and it as at there discretion, if a client ran out,
most Rx's decided by behaviors and time before a refill, since a lot of folks either take too many or sell part of the script,
in those cases they would call the Doc and get permission, which was not a given,

nothing was nmore fun than having to shut down and kick out a loud mouth that either needed pills to get by, or to sell, that had an attitude,
    that's sarcasm,

Take two. How hard is that to understand? It's what I liked about aids. It killed stupid people, drug addicts and queers all over the world. Luckily, something like this comes along every once in a while, or we'd be up to our asses in queers, drug addicts and stupid people. It's way better than War. You don't think this isn't thought of ahead of time? Actually, stuff like Covid is just luck, but sometimes it's better to be lucky than smart. No matter what, someone is benefitting from it. It's just all part of the balance. Maybe a little rude, but, eh.

A little raw, dryheat. For all you know someone here has a gay kid or grandkid, or someone they're hoping beats addiction.

you may have the restraint, to take 2, or less as needed

some don't, so they run out in 20 days instead of 30, because they take 2 or more, instead of 1,

or they sell 1\2 or 1\3 off at $10 a pill, to make some spending money, and then run out , and start jonesing,

Easier to go after legal companies with a high profile-and deep pockets-than criminal cartels.

End result is that people with real pain from an accident or surgery cannot get the pain relief they need!

Maybe I'm missing something here, but in South Carolina,in my experience, you can't get any type of of narcotic , pain killer without a prescription from a Physician. Wife had back surgery and Dr. gave her a prescription for pain (4) pills. I went to pick up same and had to show positive identification and sign for it. A pharmacist will not give you any type controlled substance without a prescription in SC unless he or she is violating the SC code of laws.

My wife was an Army Nurse during the Viet Nam War. I was an Infantryman. We both saw the damage opioid painkillers do. When she had her hip replacement, she was prescribed opioids -- 4 pills a day for a month.

On really bad days, she would ask for half a pill. Otherwise she wouldn't take any. We finally threw away about 80% of her pills,

Deflects attention from the moral failings of the users. 6 years ago I was pedaling home one pleasant October night-woke up in the ambulance. I was hit by a drunk. They gave me a Percocet at the hospital, and a prescription. Didn't bother getting it filled, the only pain I felt was in my calf, they didn't ice it up. On another board a member told of how some visiting "friends" asked to use their bathroom, later his wife noticed her out of date bottle of Percocet missing.

first few kidney stones I had the doc insisted I take a script for Percocet's cause I might need them,

never did, infact the only time I took anything for stones was in a docs office,
one trip, after a couple shots of Demarol, and then some other pain killer in about an hour,, I was still hurting and finally passed the stone from my kidney to bladder,
went right to sleep as soon as the pressure wave stopped,,,

I turned in one bottle when I turned in a pile of Dad's scripts when he passed

last time in they gave me morphine,, that sucked, I was tired, tried to take a nap, and the nurse would not let me sleep,, ,

best thing to take for Stones,,,,,,,,, ,beer

I recall when Rush Limbaugh was accused of misusing a pain killer, he made no excuses, accepted responsibility. When Mickey Mantle's serious health problems became known, he said "Nobody did this to me but me."
