Liberals and Guns - Changing Attitudes

I posted a couple of comedy routines by Bill Burr and Dave Chappell, both liberals, on why they own guns.

Here is a more in depth look, a little long but worth it:

Not sure they've ever publicly proclaimed a political party, though both behave plenty of material to work from the R's and the D's.

When tyranny does confront us which it could under Biden, would enough
of the population take up arms ? I don't think so, not in this day and age.
This new crop of youngsters has been propagandized and turned left.
Oldsters would fight but to no avail if the military joined the tyrants.
Our forebears would not have put up with tyranny, but we will.

        Thanks for posting that, Art.

He's still a liberal (neighbourhood, programme) and just now is realizing the Australian Gov't is bit heavy handed? I went there in '79 thinking about emigrating and decided they had Way Too Much government. He lives in Portland and had to be the recipient of the neighborhood Karens (and Adolphs) coming after him to see it's a free range lunatic asylum? In '83 I worked with a black guy, born and raised in Portland as was his wife. They were moving to rural Alabama because he found the it to be much more open minded.
Is he afraid of the Bidenreich destroying the Constitution? Or a center conservative take over?
I agree some on the left are coming around on 2A; just not sure if they really know why.

My youngest daughter, who is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, has worked for years in Manhattan, and lived across the Hudson in New Jersey and had slowly succumbed to the Liberal Virus. She moved to Arkansas to help with her mother (my wife) who has Alzheimer's. Way back during the primary season, I asked her who she liked.

She said, "I like what Bernie Sanders says, but how's he going to pay for it? He SAYS he'll tax the super rich, but THAT'S not going to happen. He's going to tax the shrinking Middle Class."

Another year or two and she'll be completely cured of the Liberal Virus.

Nah, we threw the Brits out a time or two.

Irving Kristol defined a neo-conservative as "a Liberal who has been mugged by reality." Met plenty of Liberals who were closet gun owners but kept quiet about it to avoid being accused of not following The Party Line.

Going back to my rant. As with most liberals, the author blames the 'second amendment' (it's the Second Amendment) not the social services and legal systems which allow selective enforcement of accountability. Cannot compare another nation's crime rates to ours because of that. The latest tantrum in Wisconsin is a great example. Rittenhouse is being persecuted (it ain't over) for exercising his right to self-defense, as opposed to the lack of enforcement. The newest infant is being rehabilitated by the press before the trial.
We've had years of Trial by Media rather than the courts, which are bad enough in themselves. The liberals still have a 'my good gun' versus 'yours is bad' mentality. During the 'assault weapon' hysteria, a noteworthy financial magazine had a little sidebar of some fool in Virginia who was talking about his Browning A-5 as being a 'reasonable person's' weapon. No, Squire, they want yours, too. Still worth posting.

Yes, they want them all, just will be done in increments. The A-5 will be safe for NOW.

Absolutely, just like a lot of Aussies thought their Remington 870s were safe after the semi auto ban there. Well no, it was just a matter of time before they scarfed up all the pump shotguns and are now debating whether lever action shotguns are ok.

The fact that more rank and file Dems are worried about blue state riots and rampant crime, or protecting their emergency stash doesn't change the fact that the Democrat party is the anti gun party and if they could import Australian gun laws they would in a heart beat. Then folks like the old boy who wrote the article would be faced with the common problem of whether to hide his AR or comply.

Australian gun laws are actually more strict than Russian gun laws, sort of says it all.

The fellow in the OP article does acknowledge one thing the vast majority of his lefty buds (including Fudds like the above mentioned A-5 toting Virginian) don't. An armed citizen really is a deterrent to tyranny. In fact its a deterrent to Aussie style gun laws.
