    Conservatives push for Constitutional convention

That is the worst thing that could happen to the USA. We would lose the Bill of Rights and every good thing that is in the Constitution. The Socialist/Communist/Democrats would take over the convention and Article 1 would outlaw gender pronouns. Article 2 would outlaw any speech that is unfavorable to the government and Article 3 would outlaw the owning or possession of any device capable of propelling a projectile.

    Unintended consequences? JMHO

It's a stupid gamble but I don't think it will happen.
But there are a lot of stupid people in Congress.
They'd (dems) need 3/4 of the 57 States (obama's count)
so, are there that many anti-gun States? I don't think so.

No, we would NOT lose the Bill of Rights -- although it would be incorporated into the main body of the new Constitution.

Remember, whatever a Constitutional Convention proposes must be ratified by 75% of the states. There are far too many red states for a left-wing Constitution to be ratified.

      I'd think we'd see:

      1. Penalties for members of Congress who introduce bills violating the Constitution.
      2. Literal interpretation mandated.
      3. All enumerated rights considered "civil rights" with penalties for officials who violate them
      4. Term limits for all politicians and judges.
      5. A balanced budget.

So, there are too many Red States! 75% of 50 equals 37.5. Look at a list of Blue States and you will find about 17 that have never been anything but blue.

Why take s chance? A bird in the hand?

I agree with RED on this one.

Like I said in a different post.

Liberalism has grown soft, Conservatism has grown stupid. There's the problem right there. Maybe I ought to get a SM for that and make T-shirts!!

There are a lot of issues that should be addressed. As Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr said, "The life of the law has not been logic, it has been experience."
Here are 2 issues that I think need a lot of thinking about:
              1. Authorizing Congress to overturn Supreme Court decisions.
              2. Eliminating the position of judge and SC justice as permanent tenured positions and turning them into duty positions for lawyers. Have a pool of those qualified, an Administrator of Courts, when somebody's name is called they will serve for a month or so. That will eliminate the confirmation battles, end the arrogance, the conceit, the corruption of a full time judiciary. We don't have permanently empaneled grand and petit juries, we don't need permanent judges either.

The problem with Congress v. SCOTUS is that Congress doesn't legislate much anymore, just pass budgets, so SCOTUS has got the big idea that they can write law how they want it through rulings. I agree Congress should push back but the way to do that is to get back to legislating again.

That puts them 20 states short of ratification. There are more Red states that Blue states.

Liberals make up the largest part of the democratic party, and just look at what the dims have brought us to.
