No surer sign of disrespect to Cheeseheads than to misspell and mispronounce the names of our cities or residents. Yes we know there's a bunch of Indian or Central European names that are hard on those accustomed to a WASP vocabulary. So what. If we can learn to spell and pronounce them then so can everyone else. -

Well it doesn't. I can speak to the Cheesehead peeve of non-Cheeseheads mangling our (admittedly difficult) proper names without someone dragging 1861-65 into it. Like I said, not everything is about the south. I bet pointing that simple fact will be claimed as an insult now too?Comment

Don't fall for it. Virginia is Mid-Atlantic, not the "south"."The first gun that was fired at Fort Sumter sounded the death-knell of slavery. They who fired it were the greatest practical abolitionists this nation has produced." ~BG D. UllmanComment

I'll accept that you perceive insults. But that's a common practice across the M-D line. It has nothing to do with whether or not one was actually intended. We both know what I'm talking about.Comment
