Yes it sucks but Pakistan via the Taliban spent 20 years making sure our mission couldn't succeed so guess what we redefined the mission, declared victory and came home.

All those A-hole countries next to Afghanistan wanted us out of there so it's on them to get the food trucks rolling or deal with the refugees.

There is so much that is laughable in that that it's hard to count. Military and fighters mentioned about twenty times. "oh crap, the Americans left, now what do we do?" Call for more fighters. Added: German and Japan were very hierarchical societies. FDR has been criticized through the years, mostly by Axis apologists, for demanding unconditional surrender. But post-war it was by taking over at the very top that occupation forces were able to make those hierarchies work in a positive direction. FDR was right about so much, it's a shame his health took him.
