    Massachusetts outdoes California

Eggs will largely disappear from Massachusetts grocery store shelves come Jan. 1, 2022, unless state lawmakers act quickly to amend a strict new animal welfare law.

    What are the details?
In 2016, Massachusetts voters overwhelmingly passed an animal treatment measure that, in part, made it illegal to sell eggs born of hens with less than 1.5 square feet of floor space in their enclosure. Now that decision, scheduled to take effect in 2022, is coming home to roost ? and it's threatening to wipe out the supply of eggs in the state.

According to the article, it applies to products made with eggs, and to food imported into the state as well.

    well,

I guess they will have some egg smugglers,

    like they do for tobacco,

refrigerated van, loaded with brown eggs, stopping at every store and warehouse and or chicken coop up 95 ,

    selling them in the alley

psst,, hey you, wanna buy a dozen?

This is what happens when ideology (Save the chickens!) trumps reality (What's for breakfast, Ma?)

Well, I'm a Doughboy and I can get along without fancy things like eggs.

(We're called Doughboys because after storming Molino Del Rey ("The Mill of the King") in 1847, the famished infantrymen found flour. They mixed it with water and baked doughboys in the embers of their campfires and ate their fill.)
