That's true but there have been "only" 5 million deaths world wide and in the context of the worlds population, 5 million is not a significant number. The Spanish flu epidemic of 1918 -1920 is said to have killed between 20 and 50 million when the world population was perhaps 2 to 3 billion and that was a significant hit. One odd thing about the flu was that it mostly killed young adults and not the elederly. Another oddity is that it ended when the virus suddenly mutated into a benign form.
