This Fox news reporter obviously is smoking Bull Durham. From the above headline, Robecca Grant thinks NATO would use combat forces to achieve air supremacy over Ukraine and the Black Sea.

Fox belongs to Disney now and while it is said that Disney only bought the movie network and not the news network none of us know what was agree upon or what is going on.

West of Ukraine you have Poland, Slovakia, Hungary. All NATO members but more importantly states that have no desire to be ruled once again from Moscow. There are places in the world where animosity towards the neighbors runs so much deeper than we poor dumb Americans can ever imagine. India/Pakistan is one place. The former Warsaw pact is another.

Air supremacy over Ukraine and the Black Sea is a pipe dream. Imagine US Navy launching from carriers on the Med and fighting land based aircraft from Russia. Our only air supremacy aircraft capable of competing with the newer Russian Migs is the F-22, and it is not carrier based.

I think I can safely say that no one wants to go to war with Russia and finding allies to help would be very hard regardless of what imput NATO/UN might have to say about it.

It would also be a grand opportunity for China to chime in, support Russia and fight an already weakened adversary. The problem with secretive communist countries is you don't know what technology they have and how much of it they have. What they may lack in equipment they can well make up for it in sheer numbers.

Both, no doubt, have countless spies living and working here and probably have contacts in congress as well.

I feel the threat of having to fight Russia is the main reason Iran hasn't already been blown off the map by us or Israel.

cruise missiles will do the grunt work to start, followed up by sorties of either smaller craft or B2's

we can refuel mid air, and I am sure for the right price Turkey will be our ally

we have also recently done joint exercise's with Romania, and should still be on good terms with Hungary

Defeatism or realism? There is a bit of history you are overlooking. When is the last time Europe fought with Russia and won.

Of course the Navy can refuel airborne but it is over 1100 miles oneway from the Med to the Ukraine/Russia border. Turkey under Tayyip Erdoğan is not a slam dunk partner. For one thing, Turkey gets about 85% of its natural gas from Russia. All in all Turkey has a import export deficit of $90 billion and China, Russia, and Iran are three of it?s important trading partners.
