Maybe not, at least in the classic sense. The police were called for a domestic dispute (loud fight) between a woman and her son. When the police showed up (there were three of them) the guy came out of a bedroom with a gun and opened fire. Like in a lot of these short range gunfights good guys and bad guys were hit. It seems the two cops who were shot never "cleared leather." The uninjured cop killed the bad guy.

These were the 4th and 5th "law dogs" shot in NYC this month.

The gun used by the bad guy, who seems to have been a dope dealer, was a .45 cal. Glock with a snail magazine which was stolen in Baltimore.

The bad guy is dead, one cop who was just 22 is dead and another cop is alive but barely hanging on. The dead cop looked like he was 12.

It is truly getting to be open season on the police and there are a good many people out there who think killing a policeman is a public service. This is where three years of the demonization of the police has brought us. The MSM and not a few politicians, from the local level to Congress are absolutely culpable in this. NYC's new DA has said explicitly that prosecuting police officers is a priority; now prosecuting abuse and corruption is important but the way it was put out in a public statement is not helpful.

My criticism of law enforcement and the CJ system is that they took public trust as a given or of lesser importance.

Now when they need it there's less of it.

Road back will not be easy.
