ATF Seizes Firearms from Amish Dairy Farmer

Sure doesn't look like a big dealer...

A Funny comment on line about it by a poster!

"In Amish country there are NO "drive" by shootings. Now, maybe there could be a trot by shooting I haven't heard about"......

The Amish like guns but they have no ID to buy them , they have no birth certificate nothing . Now here's how it works they pay a premium or get someone to do a straw purchase , I personally had someone ask me to do this in exchange for a 30x40 shop . I said no and paid for the building .

Interesting. Private sales are mostly legal...for now. Straw purchases are another matter. I wonder if straw purchases entered into this old boys activities or he just transferred so many guns he had become the defacto gun dealer guy for his congregation.

for those that don't want to click

Lancaster Online reported Tuesday that agents with Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, (ATF) seized firearms from an Amish farmer in Pennsylvania’s Leacock Township.

The seizure of the firearms occurred earlier this month.

Lancaster Online indicates the ATF’s action revolved around the farmer, Reuben King, allegedly selling firearms without a license.

King admitted that he had sold some firearms, but stressed that they were mostly long guns that other Amish could use for hunting. He noted that he sold some to non-Amish too.

He added, “I was not dealing in handguns, positively not.”

The Blaze noted that King “[did not] advertise the sale of his guns online and was not aware of how the ATF became aware of the activity.”

The interactions between King and the ATF shine a light on an issue long unresolved; namely, how many guns does a private individual sell before he or she is targeted as being a dealer selling guns without a license?

The Blaze pointed to King’s claim that the government has not told him how many guns a person must sell, and over what timeframe, before the ATF considers that individual a dealer.

Onesy is right, they don't buy from dealers, they cannot meet the ID requirements or don't want to,

seems odd to go after them, but we, of couse, don't know the whole story

The Amish are much more congenial than trying to go after illegal guns where the crimes are being committed.

Just another case of the BIG BOYS at it again. Easy bust. Not looking at Chicago or other big city gun problems. Go figure.
