Ukraine-Russia War: Russian troops underfunded, equipment sub-pa

If this is true the invasion may be in trouble!

Ukraine-Russia War: Russian troops underfunded, equipment sub-par, according to reports

Russian troops seem to be largely untrained conscripts fulfilling mandatory service

The Russian effort to invade Ukraine appears to have been underfunded and under-equipped to handle the swift takeover that Russian President Vladimir Putin was hoping for.

Fox is wrong about the equipment and almost surely wrong about the 30,000 to 50,000 troops initially deployed inside Ukraine, today they said the Russians have deployed about 25,000 more troops today and some of those may not be quite up to snuff but who knows. Over half of the Russians are almost surely still outside of Ukraine in Belarus and Russia and I suspect the bulk any called up reservists (that draftees) are still there, just a SWAG. Yesterday they said the Russians had no night fighting capacity which is absolutely wrong. Russian FLIR (forward looking infra red) capability is top of the line and all the front line long service types have access to night vision and infra red indicator technology. The T90 Tank is past its day and so are some of the attack aircraft but the other stuff is very good indeed, especially Artillery which has always been a Russian strong point; not as good as ours, we have the best artillery on the planet, but still very, very good.

I bet there is a lot of what he hell are we doing here thinking among these (Russian) guys though. Its starting to look like the Russian military is developing morale problems due to the stoutness of the resistance and the every Ukrainian with a rifle issue.

Both Russian revolutions and the rise to power of Putin had a lot to do with failed wars.

A familiar and serious problem, when the other guys (and women) know exactly what they are fighting for and your guys don't.

heard today that there were plenty of AK's to go around but there was some distribution type issues that was making it difficult to get the ammo to them,
as in they have ammo stacked deep, just not where needed

Those are AK 74s -- shoot one without ear protection and it will make your ears bleed.

I saw a news story which said Putin has labored mightily to restore morale, build esprit and fighting spirit, the Russian Army is about 2/3 volunteers, and there have been plenty of armies whose equipment was not top notch but who knew how to fight. I haven't seen any stories on Putin's style of command, his relationship with his top brass.
The best night fighting equipment is well trained, well rested troops who are well led. All that night fighting equipment doesn't work that well when a soldier is looking through it with bloodshot sleep deprived eyes.
