For reference, 15K Soviet dead and 50K wounded in Afghanistan.

It's not like the 1940's when the Commissars were able to just line up human waves (at gunpoint if necessary) and send them at the German lines, pulling more out of the countryside as necessary.

Given that they said they had no intention of invading but did anyways, I'd say that if they claim they are ready to bleed 50,000 men then I will say they are probably not.
