Top Russian general is killed by Ukrainian sniper

Top Russian general is killed by Ukrainian sniper as Kyiv claims 9,000 of Putin?s troops have died during invasion

Major General Andrey Sukhovetsky was reportedly killed yesterday by a sniper

He is by far the most senior figure to have been killed amid the Russian invasion

His death represents a major blow to Russia's 'special military operation'

It will be seen in Ukraine as a sign that the invasion is not progressing as planned

It comes as the armed forces claimed to have downed 9,000 Russian troops

The Kremlin meanwhile insists that less than 500 of its soldiers have been lost

This is the second General to be killed, unless the news people are a little late with their reporting.

I do not believe much of what I read, see, or hear coming from any place. The General may be dead or maybe not. He may have been killed by a sniper or simply laughed himself to death watching Peelosi st the SOTU speech.

The Russians are lying about the Ukrainians and the Ukrainians are lying about the Russians. The American mass media, including Fox is worse than Tass and Pravda ever were and are lying about every damn thing.

A couple of nukes going off anywhere and Biden will crawl on his knees all the way to Moscow, begging for forgiveness.

Hang onto your guns, ammo, gold, etc. and try to resurrect a old CB radio to take the place of your now obsolete cell phones. The sh*T has hit the fan.

Major General in the Russian Army=brigadier general in ours. Assuming it's true, he either was leading from the front or that sniper was awfully good, pretty close. Snipers have always done damage all out of proportion to their numbers, the time and effort spent in recruiting and training them is well worth it. Perhaps he is related to Lyudmilla Pavlichenko.

RED, every word you say is true, especially the part about Fox.

The Russians apparently admit the loss of a General to a sniper, so that one item is probably true.

Let's not rule out: shot by one of his own who has family in Ukraine (many many Russians do). The gunshot cannot be denied so it has to be put on a less embarrassing/problematic source and it can't be left to rumor.

RED: previous US Presidents (note use of the plural) either dismissed Putin or gave him all the time he needed to gather his strength for this moment. And you're blaming Biden for stepping carefully around the nuclear threat?

You'd blame the custodian for what the school kids did to the lavatory toilets wouldn't you.

I disagree, Fox is not nearly as bad as the other channels,

Not on most stuff but for sure on this.

Misrepresenting the makeup and capabilities of the Russian military at the beginning might be a mistake. Continuing to do it is not. For example, Fox continues to state that the Russian Army is a conscript army. It is not 2/3 of Russian soldiers are voluntary enlistees, not conscripts. The vast majority of combat arms soldiers are voluntary enlistees. My favorite was when the Ukrainians shot down a transport full of what Fox referred to as "conscript paratroopers." Paratroopers are elite units, nobody has conscript paratroopers.

There is a lot of incompetence on display in the Russian Army but it isn't incompetence by conscripts.

Then there was the story that the Russian Army couldn't fight at night and the stunned look on some Fox reporters when they did, like last night at that Nuclear plant.

Any Fox story about the Rooskle Military should be taken with a huge dose of salt.

I prefer Fox's attitude of "hey we can take these guys if we have to" versus the hand-wringing of other media channels.

More misinterpretation. Somehow I remember Putin and the Russians taking the Crimea and more when Obama was CIC and Biden was Veep and they did nothing of consequence. Putin knew better than doing more while Trump was in office, so he waited till some weak kneed full time thief was in power. A few million $$$ to Hunter and it was sure thing? well, almost except for the Z factor.

RED if you have an actual coherent account of Bidens in Ukraine, including the details that actually matter, then let's hear it. If it's just "Hunter and $$$" then I'll see your Hunter and raise you a certain phone call trying to extort political favors out of the Ukrainian government.

Both Bush and Obama underestimated the kind of trouble Putin could be. For that matter so did the Euros, especially the Germans. Putin was good for business for a very long time. But depending on how this ends, we might have to save a special place in hell for late-stage Putin enablers and admirers.

Pretty much the only people who are clean are those who never trusted his KGB background and picked up on it early when he jumped back and forth between President and PM, all while blowing up little guys and poisoning opponents.

I count myself among those who weren't ever fooled.

                              Never fooled, LMA0!!

I seemed to recall a totally implausible, non sensible, crazy, made up lie about Putin wanting Trump to win in 2016.

And I seem to remember something a fish and a hook, a line, and a SINKER.
