How many nukes have exploded above ground in the USA

100 at least, 1,021 total, according to the US government.

Ask any college kid today and they will say 2. 1 in Hiroshima Utah and 1 in Nagasaki, Nevada.

The resulting death toll from the released radioactivity is estimated to be 11,000 to 140,000 depending who you ask. Ask s college kid and the death toll will be at least 100 million.

Ask which is more likely to kill all of the humans on earth, nukes or climate change, and 99 percent of Americans under 40 would swear climate change is the answer.

I'm not going to question the numbers, but does that number include the tests in the Pacific?

either way, they death toll from exposure and cancers is way too high

No, just tests in the CONUS. Tests in space or the Pacific (including Japan) are not part of the published numbers.

The point being that a 100 nukes will not be a civilization destroying number. Strategically bombs targeted for NYC, Wash. DC, LA, or Chicago may kill millions of Americans but the real targets of value lie in nuclear submarines and land based ICBM missiles.

my understanding of the Cold War Era was that if one side lauched, the other side would 2, and it would not be a one and done, it would be everything going to every targeted city,

and of course treaties etc say that other countries would join in,

personally, I am in a target rich area,, so one would really suck near me
