    Land of Crooked Mirrors

And yet sooner or later reality will break through to the Russians.

Interesting article thanks. Lots of parallels to what the media/tech is doing here.

Not just parallels. Putin literally had a propaganda arm alive and well in the West. And it hooked a lot of people, most of whom don't want to admit it. Can't say I blame them.

Hitler duped Stalin into purging his Gen'l Staff in the late '30s. Ours is Woke. After one of the endangered species meetings which I'm a board member, a staffer for one of the most liberal members of the U.S.Senate said to me "the people behind this want to put everyone into big cities and starve people to death at 60". My reply was I'm the right wing Republican who should telling you that. "Believe me".
In McCain's memoir he tells of his jailer's tack to destroy his belief in every thing we believe to be true about our nation and culture. Sound familiar?

            Yes it does.

But it's not the people who distrusted Putin from the outset that misplaced their faith in him as a co-defender in your words of "every thing we believe to be true about our nation and culture."

A lot of public figures taking this new drug, Tyranol. People can decide for themselves what to make of it but I am not in a forgiving mood.

My own thoughts on Putin were that he put Russia's interest's first and therefore one knew where one stood, as opposed to Obama who was looking for which position was most advantageous to him personally. Advantage Putin.

Putting their regime's interests first is a description that applies to all dictators. If they do that so cynically as to eventually betray any foreign relationships, then it hardly seems like an advantage does it. Putin among other things has just flipped the switch on a brand new German foreign policy. Advantage Putin?

Democracies have finished more wars than dictators have started than the other way around. And the reason we give the nod to promoting Democracy as a government policy is the belief that free people with a free press are no longer so easily goaded into making war on each other.

Consider China and Russia now, allies with their publics locked up tight in state controlled information bubbles. Truckers griping about vax mandates have no idea what real tyranny looks like.
