Putin best not make too many enemies ...

He's fired eight Generals for not winning his war already, and his buddy
in the FSB for badly underestimating the will to resist of the Ukraine military.
I'd hazard a guess that he's also berated many others in his administration,
blaming them for his own failings.
Probably not wise to piss off too many of those who keep you in power.

Ukraine is a operation Putin is using to fix problems in his corrupt government and military. It is simply a work in process. He is readying his military for his goal of world dominance. His Generals have very little actual combat experience but neither does any of the European militaries. The Russians are getting it now.

His bet is none of his possible enemies will use nuclear weapons first. By honing up his military and his industries turning out more and more weaponry gives him an edge.

When historical leaders are listed there are people like Joe Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Adolf Hitler, Mussolini, Napoleon, Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, Catherine the Great, come to mind. Vladimir Putin wants to head the list.

I asked a friend who was in SU army if he was surprised at performance so far. His reply:

"actually very logical. When I served back in the 80s, Soviet Army was one large clusterxxxx. I thought they maybe made things better during the last 30 years, (given all the oil $$), but looks like nothing has changed. Same incompetence everywhere. "

RED is still mesmerized by Putin's rep as a 5D chess master, in part I suppose to preserve the reputation of politicians who treated him with such deference. But RED's view is definitely in the minority. Oh no doubt they will learn from some of their mistakes, but if they ever have to come up against well led Western armies, they will have serious problems.

Mesmerized? I did not know Putin ever played chess. You are the one mesmerized and hypnotized by any socialist dictator that wants the world to be a Communist utopia.

Lyman called you a Democrat. He is wrong.

Well you are in the minority here when you state that Putin saw this all coming and it's going to plan like he says. You're entitled to that opinion just as others are free to hold a different view.
