"Zelensky 'realized' Ukraine cannot join NATO" ...

Presuming this to be true then I might add, about effing time.
If he'd bothered to look before leaping into a ruinous war, he
would have "realized" sooner and saved his people a lot of pain.

After three weeks of brutal fighting, Ukraine has acknowledged that joining NATO is off the table.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday

It was never about NATO. NATO is on the Russian border already.

That was a smoke screen. And as you know, paper is good for wiping butts and little else over there. Russia in 1994 pledged to not attack Ukraine as part of the de-nuke deal and look how that turned out.

For whatever issues the cultures have with each other, one thing is clear: a Ukraine that sees a democratic future in the west, maybe in the EU, is something Putin couldn't abide.

Zelenskyy had it right right from the beginning. Poke putin in the eye and kick him from the front and back. That is the one and only thing that stopped putin and his cabal from turning Ukraine into convenient cafeteria line from which they would pick and choose leaving the left-overs to whoever they installed as a puppet. Had he meekly caved into putin, he would be approaching room temperature as a result of him being a threat to the peace and security of putin. Remember, these are the same folks who kill with impunity whoever gets in their way whether they are in Moscow or London or wherever. The war started by putin is now in its third week. With lots and lots of dead russians and lots and lots of burned tanks, rocket launchers, planes, helicopters, etc., putin is now having to see if he can get some help from the chicoms to finish off what he and everyone else thought would be a easy victim. Guess he never thought this supposed victim would refuse to just lay back and enjoy it. As it is, putin has hoisted himself on his own petard. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving man. Sincerely. bruce.

Plenty of reading out there that explains why. Oh NATO was on the list, but hardly the only thing on that list, right?

I guess I should first ask if you bought Putin's "de-Nazification" argument, which is what he told the Russian people. Did you?

Typical democrat tactic - when the facts disagree with your view, change the facts.

I asked you a simple question. Do you buy the de-Nazification line? Because every argument you are putting forward points to cowering in our boots, saying we have no friends anywhere in the world worth siding with. So wondering what's up with that.

Zelensky did the right thing. If or when Ukraine surrenders it is not over, Putin will mot quit, so who is next? Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Albanian, Slovakia? What if he uses tactical nukes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. Will we go with Mutual Assured Destruction attacks on Russia or will we sit still with our thumbs up our butts.

Putin is in a hole dammed if he does, dammed if he don?t. The Russian economy sucks. Like every other Socialist hell hole, every bit of it is corrupted, the armed forces are full of junk equipment manufactured by corrupt oligarchs. He had to either get going or get gone. A strong response to Russia massing troops on the border would possibly have stopped the invasion. The Chamberlain response to Hitler X2. And we know what happened next.
