Some Stories Fail To Grasp The Bigger Picture

The risk of Canadian weapons shipments being lost, stolen or otherwise misused is growing as the war in Ukraine enters a chaotic and uncertain new phase.

Like this one out of Canada, hand-wringing over the possibility of Canadian arms shipments getting lost in the chaos of a shooting war. This is like worrying about someone getting wet while riding out a hurricane.

That's not too far fetched of a concern. Look at what has happened to trains parked in Los Angles.

How about: cleaning up the loose munitions left after the Russian defeat is the right kind of problem to have.

How about cleaning up the destruction of Ukraine? The infrastructures of food, water and shelter will cost tens of billions of $$$$.

If the invasion ceases, who is going to pay for the damages. The already bankrupt Ukrainian government, or the nearly bankrupt US?

It will be in the EU's interest to see Ukraine get back on it's feet. Plus there are the hundreds of billions of dollars of frozen Russian assets in Western banks. That's a start but first end the war.

Kind of a Canadian thing, I think.

I have some IVI 7.62x51 brass, unfired, pulled down, VN era headstamps. Actually very nice brass! The Canadians sold it to Uncle Sam on the condition that it wasn't shipped to VN. But ammo is fungible so by having it here it freed up Lake City or Twin Cities ammo to go overseas. All the same in the end but maybe they sleep better at night up north.
