An interesting and to some disturbing possibility has arisen. What if the Ukrainians actually win? While it wasn't an attractive option I believe that a lot of Euros and definitely a lot of people here would have looked on Zelensky getting out of Dodge and forming an exile government and leaving the place to the Rooskies would have been the best of bad options. Slow walking the aid the Ukrainians say they need the most like those S300 Anti Aircraft Missiles is a sign to me we don't want to do too much that would be too effective.

More and more it looks to me like we're supporting a stalemate.

Russians retreating in a panic could lead to nukes. So the "golden bridge" for their retreat yet needs to be built.

Afterwards there is good reason to believe that Ukraine can be a good neighbor to Europe. They were headed this general direction anyways before the war. Not that there aren't bumps. Democracies often fail in the first few tries before succeeding.
