Star Wars was the last time I watched the Oscars ...

That was also pretty much the time when Hollywood still made decent pictures.
I might add that the Star Wars trilogy were the last times I saw movies in a theater.
As if the movies they now make are not bad enough - it's going to get worse, if that's
possible. Henceforth if a filmmaker wants his film to be eligible for an oscar, he
will have to have a cast as follows: one male, one female, one each trans male,
trans female, one quadriplegic, one each; black, hispanic, chinese, one queer male.
one lesbian, and one blind hindu.
Failure to meet these criteria will mean no possibility of an oscar award.

Sinking ratings, shrinking movie stars, boring broadcasts, not to mention battles over its controversial new museum. And now a quota system that threatens to tear the Oscars apart. How the Academy Awards are struggling to get on with the show

    So I exaggerated a little

    Explains a lot I suppose.
"The first gun that was fired at Fort Sumter sounded the death-knell of slavery. They who fired it were the greatest practical abolitionists this nation has produced." ~BG D. Ullman

I don't care about the Oscars,, they are basically movie folks patting each other on the back,

re the movies in a theater, ,

Blade Runner 2049 was excellent on the big screen
      1917 was too
      Dunkirk was good too,

I enjoyed the Craig Bond films on the big screen,

I didn't even like Star Wars. I thought it was silly and never watched another. The sci/fi stuff today is so beyound belief I don't see how people watch them without getting seizures.

As far as space goes, I liked The Passenger, The Martian and Gravity (except for the fake gravity).

Which Dune ? There have been three so far. I liked the first and the 4 hour one.
The latest version is only part one. Like Atlas Shrugged, we'll have to wait a year for part 2
          and it'll have different actors.

the first was good,, but a bit odd,

the second, (on SciFi) was better at following the book, but funky effects

on the big screen, go see the new one, (part 1)
                part 2 is green lighted
